I know that an unchanging pattern of mucus is considered to be a Basic Infertile Pattern.  I know it's normally established by having 14 days of the same color, texture, sensation, and amount of mucus.

I'm breastfeeding, and I didn't have more than a day or two of any fertility signs until last October, and then I had seemingly constantly changing mucus after that.  We were not attempting to prevent pregnancy, so I did not attempt to establish a BIP.  Looking back at my chart, most of the time, I had a small to moderate amount of yellow tinted clear, stretchy mucus most days, but I never had it for more than 8 days in a row.  I did not have that same mucus for about 2 weeks before I ovulated.

In December, my daughter started sleeping for a 5+ hour stretch at night for a week or 2, and I ovulated with an inadequate luteal phase.  She has since returned to her better than hourly, often better than half-hourly night feedings, and I believe I may be returning to amenorrhea.  This time, we are trying not to get pregnant yet.  I'm on day 29 of my cycle, and I don't believe I have ovulated yet.  My temperature appears to be coming back down from yet another temperature spike.  I had a moderate amount of cloudy white, clumpy, stretchy, slightly slippery mucus for 10 (maybe 13, but I didn't take enough notes to be sure) days straight, and then, I had one day of significantly less, white, creamy, non-slippery mucus yesterday, and today is back to what it was before (cloudy, clumpy, stretchy, etc.)

Can I use any of this to establish an BIP?  Would I have one BIP last cycle and another this cycle?  Can you tell me more about how to use the BIP?  Can I only use it for as long as it stays the same, and then I have to establish another BIP if something changes, or once I establish a BIP, can I use it for the rest of the cycle or across cycles?
