Several of you have mentioned taking supplements or eating foods to help support the placenta(s) and strengthen the sac(s). Could you tell me what you took/ate?

TIA

my mw said red raspberry leaf tea (but with a mixture of other things....not straight RRL) and lots of vitamin C for the membranes.    i know i drank the pregnancy tea nonstop and my OB had trouble breaking my water at almost 40 weeks and 7cm dilated....

there is a pregnancy tonic tea that she had me order the loose herbs from blessedherbs.com    i was to boil 2 cups of water, add  1/4 cup of herbs, cover and steep for 3 hrs, then add to a gallon container and dilute the rest of the way.   it didnt really taste great, but it was manageable.

I've read (but haven't been in the position to try) homemade stock, the kind where you simmer bones (and pigs' feet or chicken feet if you're up for it) for a long time, may be good.  The connective tissue and glycine dissolves into the stock, you strain out all the solids, then you can use it for soup, just flavor it to sip as a warm beverage, or cook grains/legumes in it.

Interesting!

I use chicken stock for some of my dishes that I make usually from whatever is leftover from the chicken - neck, spine, etc.

I also have a "RRL Pregnancy tea blend" that I bet works just as well. I take Vitamin C nearly every day anyway with my regular prenatal, as well as eating things like oranges. Sounds like I should be fine with what I normally do anyway. That's comforting. :)

Thanks ladies.

My midwife started me on Bioflovanoids 1000mg and Vitamin E early on when I was concerned about m/c.  When we found out it was twins she had me continue because she said it helped strengthen the sac.  I switched the Vitamin E to Fish oil later on.

I am taking Rainbow Light prenatal vitamins daily (taking 2 every other day)

Bioflavonoids 1000mg daily

Fish Oil capsule daily

Calcium and Magnesium twice daily; I was taking a liquid but after I went into preterm labor my midwife recommended a raw bone health one that works better for preterm labor.

I am also taking Procardia XL right now that they sent me home from the hospital on.

I took extra vitamin C & D

as well as a calcium/magnesium supplement.  The Cal/Mag helps keep uterus calm but gives you some loose stools.  If I didn't take the cal/mag I would contract like crazy.

The vitamin C helps with the membranes and I can say I had freakishly thick amniotic sacs

Vitamin D has been shown to prevent preterm birth.

I also took extra folic acid, and Procardia XL once a day to help with contractions  (I have a history of PTL and excessive contractions)

Both babies here were born at home in the caul at 39w6d.  So not sure if it was all the supplements that helped, the general eating very healthy almost all protein, as well as knowing my limitations and making sure I rested and took care of myself.
