What has a permanent home on your kitchen counter top? - Page 4

Oh and dish washing liquid. I have no dishwasher so the dishwashing liquid stays there and is used everyday.

Toaster

Coffee pot (which I need to move since I've switched to tea)

Kitchenaid standmixer (also needs to be moved, but it's very heavy and I need to make space for it)

Canisters, 4 containing sugar, flour, coffee, and tea bags.

Candles

Dishsoap

Baby bathtub

Permanent items:

A fruit bowl

Dishwashing liquid

Hand soap

Dish rack with sponges

Coffee machine

Electric kettle

Paper towel holder

Knife rack

Permanent but at the same time transitory:

The daily mail that we deal with after dinner/the next day

Dirty dishes waiting to be loaded into the dishwasher.

There's pretty much always dirty dishes and mail on the counter top, but it's different dishes and mail every day  lol.gif

Fruit basket and citrus bowl

Espresso machine

Electric kettle

4-slice toaster

Marble mortar and pestle (afraid to put it in cabinet, it's so heavy!)

Knife block

Crock with most commonly used cooking utensils

On the sink:

Hand soap (in pretty ceramic container)

Dish soap (in pretty ceramic container)

Usually the dish rack is out too, full of clean dishes!

We put a magnetic strip in an upper cupboard for our knives and it's a great space -saver plus helps keep the youngest but most curious and tall enough to reach the counter away from the very very sharp knives.

On our counter, you will find:

olive oil and organic canola oil at all times

food processor, which could be moved when I think about it.  I use it regularly but not every day.

toaster, which definitely needs to stay.

coffee maker, must stay.

dish soap

stand mixer

and usually, we have stainless steel water bottles drying.  Each child has one every day and the oldest two take them to school.  So every evening I have to rinse and let stand to dry so they are essentially permanent.  I wish there was a better way to do this as they take up a lot of space and add a lot of visual clutter.  Maybe I can keep them somewhere else to dry.

I like the idea of the knife strip in the cupboard. I'll try that. smile.gif Thank you!

Permanently on counters:

Dry good containers

wicker basket with dishcloths, towels, and napkins

stainless steel compost pail

spice rack

food processor

pepper/salt/olive oil/truffle oil/balsamic vinegar (used daily)

knife block

vacuum sealer

large chopping block

KitchenAid

coffeemaker

tea box (bread box)

banana stand

fruit bowl

... and the tea kettle stays on the stove-top

Gets put away:

crockpot

toaster (for the in-laws)

yoghurt maker

bread machine

blender

rice cooker

canning equipment

cast iron cookware

KitchenAid mixer attachment systems

KA mandolin (I don't really need this, and wish I hadn't purchased it.)

Cook books

recipe collections

stock pot/ lobster pots (what a chore... the cabinet is above my head)

ETA:  It is all arranged neatly on the counters.  I realized after typing this out that it reads like my kitchen is a cluttered mess.
