I'm not going to have a mental breakdown.. seriously I'm not even if I feel like I'm going to.. The brakes on the van decided to go out again today so I'm thinking the "easy fix" didn't actually fix them it was just a band aid so now I get to go find another mechanic that will actually FIX them. Joy and fun, especially so close to Christmas. My baby woke up with a fever and congestion from his nap, most likely from the fact he won't stay covered up and people seem to think its OK to hold him sick (cough certain in laws cough).. Lordy save me! I'm remembering why I feel like hiding..

Tomorrow I need to bury my head in sand.. just kidding I really need to:

clean kitchen

clean living room and vacuum again

clean crate and wash linens

bring cans back from street

dishes

clean out van

e-mail FIL and see if he has another mechanic he knows that can look at the van

order knitting pattern for swap Im doing

charge phone

add minutes to phone

Bus sweater: finish front, sew together, 1 arm

5 hair ties

start on dinosaur

4 gnomes

finish 1 baby outfit

finish carmat

sew apron

nativity puppets

start on monster

watch the final episode of the biggest loser

watch an episode of the amazing race (trying to catch up with last season, I never watched it past the first episode)

Typing it up it doesn't seem to bad. Lets see what time the kids go to bed though, that will make all the difference.

Awesome! I can't wait to do  that!

Busy, busy day!  Some cleaning, but a lot of kitchen work...and need to balance that with meeting the needs of my two little guys. :)

We're hosting Christmas dinner tomorrow - if some of the prep doesn't happen, that's okay, just a matter of more to do tomorrw - but DH will be home then, so he can focus on the kiddos while I cook.

Ideally, I will:

Finish printing out recipes

Boil eggs & make devilled eggs

Mostly make stuffing (cube bread & toast, cook celery/mushroom/etc mixture, par-bake)

Bake pies - pumkin layer, pecan, coconut custard, and maybe apple

Prep brussels sprouts & steam/par-cook

Par-cook carrots

Peel, cube, and oven-roast sweet potatoes

Possibly caramelize onions

Assemble cookie tray

Bake some Chocolate-cherry crescents if I get around to it...

I think that's about it...there's some tidying that should happen, but not that much - I do need to scrub the kitchen floor if I can get to it - but the boys both love swishing with a rag, so they can 'help', and maybe have some water-play too.  Bigger boy (almost 3) loves to help cook, so I may get some of this started w/ him while smaller one takes a.m. nap...Right now, I'll finish printing recipe and then off for play-dough and coloring w/ the boys. :)

Wish me luck! :)

*gathered the trash
*washed load #1 for the day
*gathered the rugs to wash
*straightened up
*picked up the layaway and bought the cutest little purple Christmas tree. Why Not? joy.gif
*went to DD's class Christmas party heartbeat.gif
*went to dinner with DH and DD and rented a movie

I hope to relax for the rest of the evening teapot2.GIF

Hi bejeweled and SaraCate. SaraCate, you so made me want deviled eggs and I don't usually eat eggs, but we happen to have some in the fridge. :-)

Well, I got my stepdaughters' and their little sister's gifts wrapped last night, but I had to stay up super late to do it. The babe needed me a lot, so I had to keep stopping and starting again. The last of them were wrapped with him on my lap. :-) But they got done which is good because they have to be mailed Saturday morning. Anyway, DS1 woke SOOOO early this morning, literally a couple hours after I laid down. I promised DH that if he would watch him so that I could sleep a little longer, I would make time for him to do his schoolwork tonight instead of going to the annual carol sing. So our family is missing our Quaker Meeting's Annual Carol Sing. :-( But I'm dead tired. Seriously, if I get the darned diapers stripped today and possibly bake some cookies with DS1, I'll consider my day a success.I've been needing to strip the diapers for weeks now and we can't really afford to invest in more disposables, especially during the holiday season. Plus, I'd prefer the boys to be in cloth. I don't know why I've made it up to be such a big deal in my mind. It's not that hard. LOL Some days I am overwhelmed looking around with everything that needs to be done jumping out at me, instead of just focusing on one or two important projects. And I just realized that we seem to be out of regular sugar and I had planned to make sugar cookies. Surely there is some somewhere...

Anyway, the first load of diapers is going through the first wash with Dawn detergent and then I think I just have to run it through a few times until there is no more soap in the water and dry them on high. Or maybe I have to go through that process a couple of times? I'll have to look up an old thread...

I sooo relate, PoetryLover!  It's too easy to see everything that needs to be done...I'm working on seeing what's accomplished. :/

Both boys are napping right now; don't know how much time I have, though!  I have:

Finished printing those recipes

Cubed and toasted bread for stuffing

Peeled, cubed and roasted sweet potatoes

Boiled eggs

Made up cheese mixture for apps tomorrow

Done some dishes as I went :)

Swept up some along the way :)

Fed the boys

Read to them, played w/ letters, sung

Got much of the clean laundry in boys' closet sorted out as they played blocks/cars and we talked/sang

I forgot on the previous list...I'd like to get tomorrow's dinner rolls baked today; part of the reason for some of the prep today is that I just won't have the oven space tomorrow.  Fortunately, many of the sides are stovetop prep - at least in the final stages.  (Glazed carrots & Brussels sprouts, Maple-glazed sweet potatoes w/ caramelised onions, mashed pot, hm gravy...)

Eggs need to be taken out of their hot water...off to peel!

And thanks, bejeweled! :)

Poetry, take care of yourself first. hug.gif Try not to get overwhelmed by making baby steps. When I feel like that I try to write a list of the bare minimum 2 things I need to take care of to take the pressure off.

Hi Poetry, SaraC and B!

Poetry I agree with B about baby steps...I have days when everything seems so overwhelming trying to juggle the needs of everyone in our family and somehow find time for myself...on those days I feel tired and tearful. I find it best on days like that to just withdraw into my shell in a way...and be kind to myself, not expect much of myself. The hardest part is getting the message through to my teenagers that I am not feeling strong or capable that day!  hug2.gif

Done so far:

made one bed

dried sheets for DD's bed

vacuumed landing

vacuumed staircase...a major job done phew!

vacuumed downstairs hall and lounge and dining room

cleaned downstairs shower

partially emptied dishwasher

cut up fruit

put darks on to wash

to do:

shower

bring up some things from basement

photograph things for sale

finish artwork

put storage canisters on top shelf

hang out washing

wash jumper

hang out to dry

wash towels

make DD's bed with washed sheets

lunch

dust front entrance furniture

do 10 minutes sorting and tidying in the room of doom

dinner?

Haven't been around for awhile.  And oh!  My house has certainly paid the price.

So, to get back on track, this is my huge, slightly unrealistic list:

wipe down kitchen

wipe down dining table

start laundry

fold laundry

downstairs bath

transfer laundry

fold more laundry

clutter purge of dd's room

clutter purge of ds's room

upstairs bath

vacuum upstairs

transfer laundry

put cushions back in attic

wash windows in my bedroom
