Vaccines for husband. Thoughts, please.

We don't vaccinate.  BUT my husband works at a job, in a very confined place, with thousands of people.  Sickness and disease is everywhere in that place.  Most of the things that have gone around, aren't VPD, but whooping cough and meningitis have gone around in the past.  We do plan on having another baby soon.  Would you recommend vaccines for an adult in this case?

Well, we vaccinate, so full discosure.

But absolutely I would, unless he has a history of allergies or something.

We don't normally get the flu shot but the last couple of years dh did, because of his job, and it was provided by his job.  He felt it was important because he was sooooo exposed to illness and he also wante to lower the risk of bringing the illnesses home to us.  We didn't expect it to prevent always, but to lower the risk a little.

My husband works in a prison. Its one of the germiest places you can work. He doesnt get any vaccines, except the Hep B he got during training. I give him extra vitamin D, C, and zinc during the winter months. During the summer we eat a lot of greens and fresh healthy food. He rarely gets sick, and when he does its usually something DD brought home from playgroup. When he does get sick, we both take Cold FX.

He changes his clothes and washes his hands when he comes home.

Mine too.  It is totally disgusting.  That's why I'm so concerned!  I don't know about Cold FX....I'll have to look it up.

Thanks!

Meningitis is contagious? I thought it was a response to another illness.

It is debatable whether or not the whooping cough vax actually prevents transmission.

For us, no, we would not vax. Just eat healthy foods, take our vitamins, try to get enough sleep, and practice good hygiene.

No we wouldn't vax.....concentrating on maintaining a strong intact immune system is what we would concentrate on.

And to PP you are correct, you don't catch meningitis.

which is swelling and inflammation of the membranes
covering the brain and spinal cord.

It can result from any number of bacteria or viruses that become invasive

My husband is in the military and gets all his vaccinations although I'm still on the fence for DS and I won't take any.  Its one case where I'd prefer he get them.  Plus even though I'm his wife I don't feel its up to me to give input on whether he gets them or not.  He's an adult and its his body.
