Lunch made me sleepy

So it has been a while since I had a lunch of farm raised pork sausage and pastured eggs. But today, after having it, I feel so darn sleepy. I can't believe how sleepy I feel. Why would this happen?

Normally I eat pastured eggs everyday for lunch, but for some reason the addition of sausage really did me in. I eat pork frequently, so that isn't the issue. I have an issue staying full for long too, but when I eat a heavier meal like this it makes me overly sleepy.

I also ate oranges afterward.

Anyway, I am trying to eat more TF, but i felt good after a breakfast of a banana and Peanut butter and not so good after a high fat/protein lunch. BTW, I ate a piece of toast later on to see if that would give me energy, and it didn't.

I'm nto at all an expert but i *think* usually if you feel sleepy after a meal you're sensitive to something in it (oranges??) or your digestive system is havign issues, maybe you need enzymes or saurekraut with it

One thing I have to stay away from is any meat that's quick-cooked, like fried sausage. If I have sausage I have to add it to a stock and simmer for at least a couple of hours. I have a diversion to just chewing quick cooked meat, probably because I can't digest it.

Could have been a seasoning in the sausage too, or the fat protein combo being too heavy for you. Every digestive system is unique. Try the same meal again, but add something to it, or eat sausage alone sometime. Personally I couldn't eat protein/fat alone, I always have to have a carb or I feel horrible.

Do you have  thyroid or adrenal issues? You may not be able to digest all that fat at once due to your 'oxidizer' status.  A slow oxidizer has slower metabolic activity and does not burn food at a maximally efficient rate, especially heavy foods like animal fats since they take a lot of energy to digest. You may also have a deficiency of hydrochloric acid, or a need to support bile production and liver function.

I am a slow oxidizer, and I feel very sleepy after a meal with a lot of fat in it. I definitely feel better when I avoid excess fats, but I crave fats and often have too much.

Digestive enzymes or cultured foods may help.
