Rite of Passage Beginning Homebirths

I wanted to share with you all that Bernadette Olivier's birth center Rite of Passage is now offering home births.  She also is doing VBACs for those who have already had a VBAC and considering the VBAC option for all mom's in home birth settings.  Wanted to share this because I know many of you that have private insurance only have Bernadette as an in network provider, and it may be cheaper and/or work out better for some of you to be able to deliver with her.  Thought I would share for those who like to keep up with area providers :)

Thanks Shannon! I love Bernadette and think she offers a great service for those looking into homebirth or birth center births. :)

She is awesome! DH and I actually went to take one of her classes right before my first DS was born.

Anyone know if she has decided to take first time VBAC'ers at home or not? I have a friend in Houston who has "excellent insurance" (not sure the carrier) and is wanting a VBAC and now her OB is changing his tune and saying NO to a VBAC. She can't pay for an out of pocket midwife. This would be her first VBAC; her firstborn was a c/s for failure to progress (after an induction) 5 years ago. I just ask because this was originally posted in January, wondering if anything has changed since then.........

I'd be surprised if Bernadette was doing vbacs. Her background is in the hospital. She never had experience at home births until very recently.

Bernadette takes those who have VBAC'd successfully at the center and home, and will consider a first VBAC at home by interview.  It is different for CNM's vs. CPM's because they have to be careful due to insurance and legalities.  I know of a couple awesome CPM's that do home deliveries for VBAC's and take insurance.  PM me for more information!
