X-posted in dental--first filling

DS 6 years old is having his first filling done on a school morning at 8:10.

I remember not feeling bad at all once the novocaine wore off on mine.

Do I expect him to be able to go to school afterward?  Do I need to be ready to send a lunch of things he doesn't really have to chew?  Should I be prepared to keep him home that day?

It's molars, in between the teeth.  The dentist is also going to clean out some stained grooves on the molars while he is working there anyway.  (he has this stain in the grooves, I got warned from Head Start to have it looked at a couple times. once we established what it was, I noted it every time they sent home the little dentist is coming form.)

He should be able to go to school. I'd send softer things (so no carrot sticks), but wouldn't worry too much.

My oldest got a filling at 6.5 and they didn't even use lidocaine. He could eat normal food right away and would have gone straight to school if it was a school morning.

Dd has had 4-5 fillings and has never needed any pain medicine.  We were told no crunchy things to eat for four hours, but otherwise, it was no big deal and she could have gone to school right away (1-2 were in the summer, the last 3 were on an early dismissal day so I just took her a little early.)

OK so check the lunch menu and tell him not to eat the baby carrots if they're there....they don't usually do like pretzels or potato chips etc.  ;)  I would think crunchy snacks like that and crunchy veggies and fruit would be the things to avoid.

Or I might spoil him a little and let him bring a cup o pudding.
