c-section scar healing question

I had to have a repeat c-section. This time I have a large hard lump under my scar - I am 3 weeks post partum. At my 2 wk follow up, the midwife said the scar looked good and was healing nicely. I have no idea when the lump appeared because I am skittish about examining it. I called and was told it might be adhesions, but I could come and have them look at it. At the time I was too freaked to really examine anything further, I just felt the lump in the shower, and just took the answer. My Dh said he thought it was scar tissue too.

Today I really looked at it. It's pink where the lump is, around the edge of the scar, the whole lump is not pink. The lump is large enough to notice when I look down. Not red, not oozing, not split, it doesn't seem to hurt anymore than the other places, it's not hot, or itchy and I have no fever. I am on antibiotics for a bladder infection. I have an appointment on Thursday to have them look at it, but I am freaking out about it. Any advice?

I'm not sure mama, but hugs to you, and congrats on your new baby.  Get it checked out, but don't worry too much. Your baby is beautiful!

Go ahead and check it out, but it sounds like the lump I had, which I'm 99.999% sure was scar tissue/adhesions. The surgeon excised a lot of scar tissue at my last c-section, and the lump is gone now.

I went to L&D and they said it was just really bad scar tissue and should be absorbed by the body in a few weeks. I feel better now.

That's good to hear.  I actually inspected my scar last night, and noticed that 2/3 of it is almost invisible (2 yrs. PP).  The middle 1/2 is thicker, raised, and red--maybe 1/4 inch thick.  I wonder what causes that?

Congrats on your new baby, mama.  Hope you heal really quickly.

I have more updates : (  The scar started oozing last night, so I had to go to the hospital and it's infected. But the lump is gone, LOL! I just need antibiotics. They said it was superficial.
