I started my period Saturday. This is Tuesday. I have very heavy periods and use a Keeper and cloth (my favorite is cloth diapers--bulky, but absorbent). As is typical, I am starting to notice an odor. I wash my Keeper and my external vaginal area many times a day (thanks to my handy dandy diaper sprayer for making it easy!). I notice no objectionable odor at the start of my period, buy by the 3rd or 4th day, it smells like something has climbed up inside me and died. Is this normal? It may be that as my flow slows, the keeper is exposed to more bacteria--as I wear it longer. I usually have to get up once or twice or more during the night to change it,and I remember changing it last night around 3 a.m., then not again till it started leaking around 10 a.m. and at that point, it was really stinky.Early in my period, I may change it every couple of hours. (I bleed a LOT).The blood flowing out doesn't smell bad, but the keeper definitely has an odor.
