Requesting Test Scores

DS has a math assessment at mid-year. They were supposed to have them before report cards, but not all students did (lots of snow days). These are computerized, but individualized, so they have to do them one at a time.

Anyway DS FINALLY had his yesterday. I'm curious to know if/how long you'd wait for the results. (Basically I'm hoping the idea is not that we have to wait until the next report cards go out.) We agreed with his teacher in October that we would discuss his math accommodations after the mid-year testing. I'm thinking that if he doesn't bring them home Thursday, then I should send a note with him on Friday asking about it, but I don't want to seem...pushy.

I would certainly send a note asking,  what's the harm in that?  It just shows that you are interested in how they are doing imo :)

He did not come home with them by the end of the week. I'm going to send in a note on Monday asking for them. We need to start moving forward in math, and I don't see any point in waiting further. They've cheered the kids with the greatest improvement from the fall testing (which DS didn't have b/c we weren't here yet), so I know they have the results.

The school may not send mid-year scores home. The only test scores we've ever gotten were test scores for ds on his state testing for 3rd grade. And even those weren't sent home until several months after he'd taken them (they had to have all kids take them, some kids needed to retake the test for various reasons, they needed to report the scores, collate them, print them out onto the special forms, etc. etc.)

Our kids are tested for reading every 3 months (DIBELS & DRA) and I never know those scores. I've never asked because I don't really care.

So, I would shoot the teacher a friendly note saying "Remember how we talked about assessing ds' math after the testing in January? I know he's just taken the test, and I'm wondering when a good time to come in and talk about his scores would be."

Do you have conferences scheduled? That seems to be when they go over test scores at my kids' elem school. eg, my son took the IAAT (for math placement for next year) in early Jan and I didn't hear about how he did until conferences last week (late Jan).
