Natural Healthcare Books/Resources?

Thread Starter

I am just thinking ahead to medical needs and how to best treat baby and childhood ailments.  I will always want to keep dr. visits to a minimum when at all possible....

Any great books (also fyi: I am just getting super into aromatherapy) on the topic?  or websites, etc....

thanks!

I recently purchased Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child

http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Medicine-Healthier-Child-Conventional/dp/0895295458

I haven't had a chance to look at it very closely, but by casual glance seems like a really handy reference. For each illness/condition, there are numerous options for treatment, from conventional medicine to naturopathy and homeopathy. It also has a quick reference guide to when you should seek medical attention (rather than home treat). It seems very balanced and thorough.

Two books by Robert Mendelsohn: Confessions of a Medical Heretic and How to Have a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor. He was a pediatrician and he also taught in medical schools, in case you haven't heard of him.

This website has some pretty good books: http://www.christopherpublications.com/

If you are interested in aromatherapy for babies/children, you might like Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child by Valerie Ann Worwood. You can take a look at the table of contents on Amazon.com. It explains how to tailor aromatherapy for babies and children (some essential oils that shouldn't be used, and a list of essential oils that can be used for particular age groups) plus a whole bunch of common conditions and which essential oils to use for them. I found some of the advice to be kind of old fashioned but overall a good reference.
