Tandem nursing and jealousy??

just wondering if anyone has experienced jealousy of the older sibling with nursing.

DD LOVES to nurse, whether milk comes out or not. I'm just a bit worried that she will be jealous that the new one will be nursing so much longer and more often.  She will be 3 when the baby is born (fingers crossed)

anyone BTDT? Is this even and issue that is common?

My daughter was a major boobie-holic and we've had no problems at all with jealousy.  She loves sharing milk with her baby sister.  We've had a really easy time with tandeming.  I have been pushing towards weaning a little bit because having two nursing ALL DAY LONG made me want to kill myself.  Now she's down to 1-3 times a day and I think we can keep this level for a long time.  My older daughter will be 3 in May. :)

My eldest was just shy of 3 when her little sister was born. She nursed all through the pregnancy and was (is) very attached to nursing.  We didn't have any jealousy issues AT ALL when the baby arrived.  She really seemed to enjoy sharing and 'teaching' her sister how to nurse.  When DD2 would cry DD1 would insist that she get some milks and would comfort her by saying, "baby, baby don't cry! mama has some milks for you!"  So sweet!

The only real jealousy we've seen with tandem nursing is that when I am nursing DD1, DD2 (now 23mos) gets a bit angry and shouts "my milky, my milky!!"  :)

Same here dd was one week shy of 3 when her brother was born, she nursed alongside her brother, at first it was hard - I'll not deny it, she wanted to nurse just as much as her brother, and then she realised that she was spending far too much time nursing and not enough playing that then she managed to regulate things so that she only nursed when she really needed it between 3 and 5 times a day in the end.  It did take alot of patience to 'wait it out' but it worked in the end and then they would invite each other to nurse, it was quite cute actually, she continued to nurse alongside her brother for 18 months and CLWd it really was on the whole an excellent experience for us all, albeit there were moments when things were harder, Adventures in Tandem Nursing by Hilary Flowers is a very good and honest book about all the aspects of Tandem Nursing.

Thanks for the responses. I have no idea what its going to be like, so i'm glad to hear it from you ladies.  This post was all just anxiousness VERY VERY early in pregnancy.  Thanks for the book reference also, I'll have to check it out as time gets closer.
