We have been planning to send our first to Kindergarten next year at our local public school (Mary Lin) and it suddenly occurred to me that they might not take him?!?! What is the story with unvaxing kiddos? Our preschools have taken a religious exemption, but I'm wondering how the public school system handles this? He has had a couple vaxes in the early months, but then we discovered life threatening food allergies and our pediatrician (Dr Price and Dr Chou at Clairmont Pediatrics) were reluctant to vax him further, as was I. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Atlanta public school w/o vax'ing??
You can get a medical or religious exemption. It has to be notarized, but that wasn't a problem for us (we did a religious exemption). It sounds like you should be able to get a medical exemption without a problem though.
This website was very helpful to me. :) http://www.vaclib.org/exempt/georgia.htm
Yes, the public schools here will take either expemption.. and I dont think they have to be notorized. At least our school didnt ask us too.. but even if you do, the bank will do it for you.
They will probably make you sign a waiver saying that you will pull your kid out of school if there is an outbreak of whatever disease. My sons PreK did.
