Help interpreting - GERD

Ok, DS3 has horrible reflux/GERD...

We have started having screaming in his carseat again, when I try to put him in it.

Also this evening, he just started uncontrollable crying/screaming.  More of the I am in pain high pitch whale/shreak.

So, what I am trying to figure out, is after this (when we got home), I am holding him right now and have been for a bit (anything else and he screams...can only be me as well --)..but over the last 2-3 hours he is sucking his right hand fingers, but often times his left hand is laying in the center of his chest and he is rubbing it up and down at times....starts about the base of the throat/neck area, and goes down to about where his stomach is at....

1) Is this normal behavior for an 8 month old..or

2) Is this maybe his way of communicating that he is hurting in that area?

last night he only slept with his body stretched fully out and his head titled as far back as possible...

I do think he could be doing that because that's where his pain is, yes. It could also be that he's trying to self comfort. My son would rub his head/hair. He's at an age where babies start to do more to comfort themselves.

Is he medicated according to dosing on the MarciKids website. My son was underdosed for so long and we had the issue the MarciKids talks about with the Prilosec instability too (I know that scream ) and the best thing we ever did for him in that was Zegerid at the correct dose.

I hope you can find what works for him.

sbgrace - we are only dosed 2x a day.  We take a solutab, dissolve it in 5 ml of water and then give 1.5 ml of that to him.

Is solutab prevacid? I think he's under-dosed? My son was as well (twice a day until he was finally dosed correctly at 18 months). Your doctor's dosing guideline book likely have 3 x's dosing guildelines. I saw marcikids is being reformatted but I found the dosing chart here:

I wish the site was up right now as they explain why babies need 3 x's a day dosing--it has to do with how babies metabolize the PPI vs. adults.
