I'm out, too. :(

Went in for a sono today, the big anatomy scan, and baby had no heartbeat. I'm devastated, but not totally shocked, as this pregnancy has been on borrowed time since we learned about the huge Cystic Hygroma on kiddo's neck just before Christmas. We were so relieved when CVS results were normal, but there was still apparently a pretty significant heart defect. I'm supposed to be a bit over 18 weeks, baby measured around 16.

No signs of m/c yet, but I scheduled a D&E for early next week (actually late next week, but I'm hoping it can be moved up, as we're supposed to go out of town for my grandfather's memorial service next weekend, and on top of everything else, I don't want to have to miss that).

Best wishes for the rest of the DDC! Hope all of you have wonderful, peaceful births and beautiful babies.

Thanks, Mamas. I'm actually doing ok--better than I thought I would be. Having gone through this before and not done the things I needed to do to stay functional, I'm making a huge effort this time to do things like talk to a perinatal grief counselor, reach out to friends and ask for help when I need it, and to allow temporarily allow myself minor self-destructive things-- eating too much chocolate, smoking a cigarette or two a day (never inside the house or car, and  never, ever around the kids, and I know that's really bad, but I buy maybe 2 packs every 4 years, and only smoke at times that I'm super-duper stressed, like when I've had a m/c and a family member die in the same week)-- as a pressure-release to stave off bigger breakdowns... I'm doing positive things, too-- getting into fun projects at work, taking the kids on adventures, painting every room in my house and doing major decluttering to improve the way energy flows around here.

Hope you all are doing well. I won't be checking in, much, but I wish you all the very best :)
