It's snowed another foot, so we are being lazy

DD has been in the bubble bath for an hour playing mermaid and we have friends across the road coming over to do some preschool friendly science experiments. And I'm going to order a big pizza for lunch (yay I love afternoon specials and snow and life!)

What a lovely day you had -  now I've got a hankering for some pizza! 

Today we are watching the pro bowl and its been a real treat. The boys have been in charge of fixing all snacks and getting the family/TV room all set up for the event. My house smells of pepper bellies and cupcakes which is oddly really a delightful smell! 

I've been catching up on the internet and basically being very loungish and loving it. My two girls have been putting bows and beads in their, mine and our oldest kitties fur (when he goes he'll be sainted for patience with children). Today is a very cozy happy day.

went for a long walk with my dd strapped into her mei tai, returned library books, then came home and i made chocolate chip cookies. babies probably shouldn't be eating chocolate, but i give her a bite of mine because she was so patient while i was busy. then i wiped up melted chocolate off her face, and now we're listening to music and crawling around the nursery.

my goal for february is to go for a walk EVERY day, no matter what temp/weather. it was -27C with the wind chill, but gloriously sunny... what a good way to spend a couple of hours!

now i have to figure out dinner. pizza sounds pretty darn good!

It is currently -29 C (-20 F) which is up from -37 C this morning.  I`m despertly trying to get some writing done. Our schools never close so I have to pick up my older child in an hour. My DS is sleepin in my arms. After a long morning of holding hands and walking back and forth across the house.

Whew, some replies! 

Today I had a "me" day, which was refreshing even though  I spent most of the morning running errands. We are due for another winter storm, which means more snow/ice on top of the piles of snow we already have. It wouldn't be that bad if we had somewhere to PUT it! 

So yes I ran errands and made hamburgers and played a lot of pretend (I was a Boxer)

I have an almost five year old and a six year old. Today, I woke up around 5:30. I love to get up early to have quiet all by myself. Around 7, the kids will be up and DH will take care of them while I work out. AT 8 I'll take Ds to school, then come home and get DD. I'm spending an hour at her preschool this morning, volunteering and teaching music. 

I'll leave there and go grocery shopping. After that, there's lunch, some cleaning and organizing time at home, and then I'll pick up DD. We'll have some cozy reading time together, and then I'll get her brother off the bus. I have a babysitter coming for him so that I can take DD to a potter painting birthday party. I think that she and I will have dinner there, and ds can have it with the babysitter.

Then home for family movie night. Whew! This day will be a busier than most of our days.

Natalie, sounds like a great day. I love having special mommy time with DD 

Today was a good day. I too had a mommy day with DD and we went to (blech) Toys R Us because my FIL gave us hefty gift cards for Christmas. I ended up stocking up on diapers and wipes because I'm exciting like that, and I let DD pick out sticker books and some picture books for my son. We picked up lunch, came home and ate as a family which was nice. The rest of the day was fairly lazy and involved some cooking, some snuggling, some reading, lots of play etc. And I had a doula client tonight so I went out and saw her, stopped at the bookstore and..SOMEONE ASKED ME WHEN I WAS DUE. SHOOT ME! I am 7 months POST PARTUM

I held a cranky (sick) toddler most of the day.

I got some water into a floppy (sick) five year old.

I did some math work with dd1.

I got lunch and snacks into me and the kids.

I sorted some more clothes off the toddler bed.

I did one load of laundry.

And...that's it. I'm not very productive when I have sick kids.

I had a good day. It is cold and rainy here, so I didn't do much. DH was off, which is always good. He woke up early with everybody and let me sleep! He took ds to school and when he got back we took dd and did the grocery shopping for the week. On the way, we stopped and got coffee and croissants at my favorite coffe store. (alomond croissants, talk about good)

When we got back, we just hung out while dd napped and then watched tv. When ds got home from school I watched him build a lego set he had gotten for Christmas, then we got take out and that's about it!

I will be so glad when the weather warms up, I live in the south and just do not function well in the cold. All I wanna do is hibernate. I can't imagine living anywhere that had a real winter, I would die.

After checking my email this am, I made breakfast, got the kids dressed and took ds1 to school (I walk him, it's just down the street). Came home with ds2, nursed him, he went to sleep. Watched NCIS while snacking, I'm not feeling so good today. Got ds1 from school, came home and he wanted to have a picnic outside. So we ate and played outside for awhile. Came inside cleaned up a bit (but not enough!). Kids played with the marble maze and did playdough. Started dinner. Nursed ds2 down for another nap, ds1 wanted to take a bubble bath so got that ready. Ate some dinner while ds1 did a craft project. Ds2 woke up and wanted to nurse (a bunch!) so I sat and surfed the net. Now they are playing the wii but are making me watch so I can't go do the mountain of dishes or clean up the glitter all over the table and floor. Need to put away the playdough still too. My DP works out of town all week so it is just me during the week!

Home by 3:30, hang out, play games

the men leave for hockey at 4:30, finish dinner, set table, waste more time on net

men home by 7, dinner, homework, bedtime

glass of wine, Glee and MDC!

Ooooh, I needed one of these threads today.

Got kids off to school, breakfasted and homework/stuff in backpacks.

Went grocery shopping & came home to put things away in -10 degree weather.  Many trips out to car for bags.

Balanced checkbook and paid bills.

Went to see part-time boss; he wasn't in today.

Picked up kids.

Went to landfill and dropped garbage off.

Post office.

Banks x 2.

Dropped off paper recycling.

Fueled truck.

Drove truck back to dh's parking lot, picked up car.

Fueled car.

Came home and fed kids healthy lunch.  Yay, me.

Did two loads of laundry.  Dried, folded, put away all.

Scrubbed bathroom.

Scrubbed kitchen garbage can and let dry in clean bathroom tub.

Gave kids snack.  Everyone outside!

Snowblowed the driveway.

Shoveled the sidewalks.

Shoveled entire deck.

Made dinner:  leftovers.

Tried calling around for a sitter this weekend.  No luck.

Kids in PJs, brushed teeth, etc.

Assisted with homework, listened to ds read.

Kids to bed.

Dh asked me how my day was.  "Busy.", I replied.

"Me, too."

I want his busy.  :)  (I saw his truck at the Pizza Hut when I passed by Bank #1, eating out with his coworkers...  I did not mention this to him.)

My busy was pretty good, considering my ds read *to* his sister tonight.  Yippee!!  :D

broke up a few toy squabbles

let the chickens out of the coop

drove to a plastic factory for a 3 hour field trip starting with product design all the way through a finished product including a demo of "wormwatcher" biome dome

brought home worm castings to nurse the lemon tree along

changed baby

lunch for everyone including nursing baby

gathered eggs, fed, watered chickens

wood in the fire

3rd coat of chalkboard paint put on train table top

nursed and changed baby

invited neighbors dog inside for kids to play with and to make sure dog wasn't "missing" from home and needed catching

called neighbor to see if they knew dog was roaming (it's several fields away)

let dog go after taking pictures with the boys (at the boys' request)

boys outside to play, nursed baby and played with baby

colored two pictures in a coloring book while boys colored/drew pictures

wood in fire

boys in the tub

started dinner

folded a load of laundry

changed diaper

picked up some toys

served dinner

cleaned up kitchen

fed cats

DH home late - fed him

chatted about his work

brushed boys teeth and washed their faces

sent them up to pick out books

bathed baby

dh up to bed to read to boys

kissed boys goodnight and tucked them in

back downstairs and showered

sat on couch with dh and awake baby girl and watched some TV

loaded wood in fire

started dishwasher

prepped coffee pot

went to bed with dh and baby

watched TV for half hour

said our "i love yous" and gave our kisses, turned off the tv, and went to sleep

Good Lord, Jackson'smama.  I feel tired this morning thinking about that.  :)  A 3-hour plastic factory tour?  It sort of makes me giggle in the midst of all of the mom-busyness.

it was actually pretty interesting to see first hand how and idea comes in in written form and they take it all the way to a finished product (which in this case was a "worm house" composting thing and a robotic security camera).  the boys were fascinated. 

i actually feel more accomplished having written it down.  it was not an out-of-the-ordinary day yet i usually feel like nothing got done.  seeing it in writing felt pretty rewarding!  neat thread idea!

Jackson's mamma....you just gave me a great idea for the train table in my little girls' room! Chalkboard paint...yay!!! this might be the respite I need for a 2.5 year old who LOVES to draw on it.

Today was a nice day : ) 

Woke up early with DS and had crossant  + coffee while he ate some oatmeal type stuff

DD got up, made her breakfast and we chatted

Made rice krispy treats! 

Played on the floor with DS for awhile

Got dressed and saw an old friend

Went to this great sustainable, fair trade, local, seasonal blah blah blah cafe in a church and got a $7 lunch for us all!

Visited local toy shop, got a few knit fruits 

Came home, made onion soup and sandwiches for dinner

Cleaned up, put DS to bed 

Hung out while DD playred with DH

Now they are all asleep!

Don't you love when they're all asleep!  I always think go to sleep, but then I am like - Oh no you won't - this is your time!  I love the quiet.  I can hear myself think.  I can actually remember what it feels like to be "bored" on my own terms.

I had a hard mama inside my head day today, plus I said something to a friend and a mother that came out all wrong and I felt so bad all day for saying it.  Anyway, went to grad school and felt better having intelligent writer adult conversations.  I love being in my writer world. 

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.  That seems to be the pattern - a good day then a bad day, a good day, then a neutral boring day...and so on.  Still getting used to being a new SAHM.  I am beginning to think that getting the hang of this new mama thing will never happen.  But I am riding the wave...

worked out beautifully!  i did three coats just to be sure (after priming it).  right now, it is COVERED in roads, a landing pad, runway, and a bazillion matchbox cars, helicopters, and airplanes.  plus blocks for road dividers and buildings and fences!  go for it!
