Wow!  So much making going on!

I am done knitting hats for my nephews and niece.  I am happy with the way they turned out.  I just have the arms and neck for my ds's sweater.  I love the way they yarn is knitting up!  It's a deep blue with reddish tones, hard to describe!

I am also having a hard time coming up with something to make for my dh.  Believe it or not, even though I've been knitting for 10 years, I've never knit him a hat, so maybe that's what I'll do!

Happy creating!!

I actually made a bit of progress on the quilt today. I found the iron, pressed the blocks, mocked up the pattern, wound a bobbin and threaded my sewing machine. So now I'm all ready to sew at least the horizontal courses tomorrow. I hope to have the whole top done before Thanksgiving, then I can do the backing and get it assembled so I can quilt the top by the weekend. And then it will be all done!

Kitchensqueens,- yay for really getting started. That must feel good!

Rere- is there not a single present you buy at this time of year? Ever? That is impressive lady. Do you ever get tired of doing this? I guess that question answers itself, since you keep on keeping on. But just wondering if any less then stellar reactions or just the amount of work even, ever gives you pause?  The couple Xmas's I did that were truly homemade I enjoyed, but I knew I couldn't keep up that pace forever. But yet, when I think about it, I do still do mostly homemade. Just not for my boys. They want things like action figures and electronics and stuff now. But everyone else is still homemade. The idea of having to shop for everyone...ewww...maybe that's how you feel? I avoid stores at this time of year. There is always on line though. Anyways, just rambling. Early in the morning. Wondering how you keep going year after year with such a long list. Keeps me motivated, I'll tell you that! ;)

I want to make a "dinner basket" for my sils this year.  But I need help with ideas to fill it out.  My husband makes awesome homemade spaghetti sauce, so that with a box of pasta.  maybe a jar of cookie mix for dessert.  maybe a store-bought loaf of french bread.  any ideas???

You could do some roasted garlic to go with the bread, or a bruschetta topping. And you could make some flavored olives.

I buy presents for my daughter but that's because we do Santa and she's way too observant and would absolutely know it was me who made them.Although I make her something from me every year. And in the past I have done some swapping for homemades.Thinking about that this year.

Oh yeah,I have a mini freak out every year.HA! but I keep going because I'm passionate about the homemades and because I want to teach my daughter that gift giving isn't about commercialism. Not that it's horrible to buy gifts but it's so easy to get caught up in all that nonsense that is out there.

This thread is actually a HUGE motivator for me.It makes me so happy to see other people out there who "keep going" too.To know there is somewhere I can go and say "Hey I made this"and no one is going to give me the stink eye,is amazing(well,at least I imagine I'm not getting the stink eye since I can't actually see any of you.HA!).

It also helps that a lot of the folks my list are pretty receptive or even appreciative of my efforts. And my husband really encourages me.That is a big factor in my ability to keep going.Although I think he would really like it if I bought him a stock pot this year.HA!

Some olive oil and parmesan to go with the bread?Olives?Maybe take a look at some online place that sends those out and see if you get any inspiration there?

Thanks - I'm so glad to have it going (and I should be working on it now while he's sleeping, but I just have to have some pure me time with tea and breakfast in the day... at any rate, it's not much larger than crib/kid bed sized - it's only 38x50.

Ooh, it's been awhile since I've been here.

Looks like everyone else is buisy getting ready for the holidays as well.

Well, here's what I've been working on.

I made pumpkin butter and jarred it for a few suprise gifts for fam and friends. I originally wanted to give in baskets for Christmas, but figured there was no time like the present :)

I have my liquors infusing and will bottle those next week. Gin and strawberry, Vodka and pear spice.

Working on a hobo bag for DIL

Working on a small ring sling for DD's dolls

DD and I are going to a pottery place in the neighborhood this weekend to make some cups and bowls for a few people.

I'll report back as I finish things!

I like that size.Big enough for snuggling but not so big that it's completely overwhelming to make.

Ok, I'm posting here what I need to do the rest of this week to keep me accountable.. I really need to get cracking on things or I'm not going to get it done. I'm having a bit of trouble concentrating on one thing at a time lately.  I'm breaking it up by day because otherwise I will flutter around doing this and that and nothing will get done.. I think its official, my brain is no longer working.

Today:

Finish sweater back (including neck shaping)

3 Knot bags (already cut out, just need to sew up)

hair tie organizer

Tomorrow (Thanksgiving, Im going over to my In-laws for dinner so it needs to be portable)

Sweater front

Friday:

At least 1 sweater sleeve

Sock monkey

6 ornaments

Saturday:

other sweater sleeve

start on washcloth

apron

nativity puppets

Sunday

finish washcloth

finish sweater

monster

The hard part is going to be making myself do it.. Its easily doable just need to wrap my brain around it all.

I understand what you mean about concentrating.Sometimes I've moved on and don't even realize it until 3 projects later and a giant mess.

Maybe I'll try a schedule too.

Today-Hmmm?Won't be home most of the day but I'll try to wash and finish the t-shirt for a teenage friend. And maybe make a trip to the thrift store for some supplies.

Tomorrow-Won't be home most of the day but I'll try to get started on mittens for my sister.

Friday-Finish mittens, make stocking for family gift exchange, get started on sweater blanket

Ok that's as far ahead as I can get.HA!

Soo, I got half way done with the back of the sweater, counted my stitches and found out I somehow lost 4 so now its back to the beginning. I have no clue why Im having problems with this sweater, its not hard or complicated but my brain isn't working when it comes to knitting it.. Oh and it needs to be done by Monday. Yea, Im going to be busy this weekend.

Yea but I didn't do anything today.. I spent the day helping my MIL with Thanksgiving dinner, entertaining their guests and helping

my aunt-in-law who just got out of the hospital.. I don't feel bad either.. People are more important then things.. When my children are older Id like them to remember the joy of helping people even if nothing was "perfect"

Well you ladies are working it (even with some mistakes) you're getting something done. Since the advent calendars, my energy and my umph seemed to go poof. Maybe be due to new pregnancy. love.gif

I'm likely to scrap the rest of all the other ideas and just start crafting baby stuff. lol
