tea

My 22 month old would like to join me for tea.  Giving her water when I have my caffeinated beverage isn't making her happy anymore. Is there a kind of tea that would be safe and yummy?

DS loves herbal tea!! Chamomile especially. He has been drinking it since he was about a year old. :)

If you're worried about herbs for whatever reason (though I feel chamomile is safe!) you could just do a few drops of lemon juice & a touch of maple syrup or honey in a cup of plain warm water for her. :)

I've been wondering this myself.  I've seen some of my favorite crunchy mama bloggers give their toddlers herbal tea and I was wondering about how safe it was, etc.  We've got a cabinet full of herbal non caffeinated tea!

Tea is also high in flouride if you worry about that (I have thyroid issues). "teas" such as rasberry tea don't actually have caffeine and "tea" in them and I would think be better than actual tea.

Some fruity teas use fake flavoring though, so watch out for that.

Chamomile is a good choice as are peppermint and fennel.

I let my kids have chamomille or fruit teas. I don't know of any reason why those wouldn't be ok. Those are actually "infusions" because they do not have leaves from the tea plant itself (which is also where the caffeine comes from).

I'd stay away from herbal tea with other actual herbs in them, though.

Our pediatrician recommended Fenugreek tea, especially during a cold.

My 15 month old loves all kinds of teas/infusions (peppermint, catnip, lemon balm, rosehip, chamomile, ginger, fennel, apple, roibush). Sometimes he sips on my green tea or massala chai.

My ds loves tea too!  He only has herbal non-caffeinated tea and I don't steep his for as long as I do my own.

Not to be snarky but curious...catnip tea? As in, catnip catnip?
