3.5 year old just started to have poor latch, HELP!

I nurse a 3.5 year old and a 10 month old.  Suddenly my 3.5 year old has an incredibly lazy latch and is not even getting let-downs most of the time.  It is driving me nuts.  I find it very unpleasant.  Now I have a plugged duct because he usually nursed on only one side.  The only thing that changed was that he had the stomach flu a week ago.  Any input?

That sounds so uncomfortable.  Toddlers frequently develop lazy latches.  One thing that might help is to tell him to open wide and say "aaaaahhh."  Show him how.  And when his latch becomes poor again unlatch him and try again.  It might just be a matter of taking the time for him to become focused once more.  They're so busy and interested in so many other things focusing on latching just isn't one of them  :).

The "ahh" technique definately worked for me...so I would suggest giving that one a try!  Good luck!
