How to help a 9 year old get more sleep?

Thread Starter

I'm looking for tips to help my 9 year old DD get some more sleep.  DC has started to have frequent night wakings and seems to be in a state of confusional arousal when she does wake up.  After doing some research today it seems the most likely cause is sleep deprivation.

She really doesn't have any other symptoms of sleep deprivation that I can tell but there have been many nights this past school year where she is awake until 10pm.  Because she seemed fine, I didn't really worry about it...oops.  Sheepish.gif

That brings me here.  I know there are tips and ticks galore for getting a young child to sleep but what about an older child?  Any magic solutions?  WWYD?

Thanks!

P.s.

Here is a related thread on her sleep disturbance: http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1294560/9-year-old-with-very-strange-sleep-disturbance-help#post_16221075
