I haven't successfully gained any weight yet (I've gained a little but lost it when my son was hospitalized, then gained a bit and lost it with a stomach flu a week ago). I'm about 15 pounds overweight, so it's not like I think baby or I are starving or anything. But I am worried because by this point in my last pregnancy I had gained 10 pounds. I'm also not really feeling any movement at 19 weeks. All of this is combining to make me really worried about my little bean. I am definitely poking out in the belly and starting to look pregnant. But...I'm still worried if I think about it. I just feel like between my DS getting sick and then my stomach bug, I'm hurting this baby. I've heard heartbeats at the 8 week, 12 week and 16 week appts., so rationally I think I should feel like "all's well." But I can't help but be worried KWIM? Is anyone else in the same boat?
Anyone else not gaining weight?
The one thing I've learned being pregnant is that the word "rationally" is evil. Rationality and babies just don't go together very well, at least not in my world. I completely understand knowing in your head that you don't really have much to worry about, but still worrying anyway. But it sounds like you and LO are doing fine (in my wholly unmedical opinion). You've consistently heard the heartbeat and you're starting to show, two things definitely in your favor!
Were you at the same prepreg weight with your first babe as with this one?
I'm kinda in the same boat, I've put on a little weight but not what would be considered "normal". I started measuring my belly to make sure it's getting bigger.
I could've written your post. Including the stomach flu, except mine was a month ago. Then after that I had another weird stomach bug for a few days and then strep throat this last week. Gah! Anyways, enough about that. It's so hard not to worry even when you know in the back of your head on a rational level that things should be fine. Emotions take over easily when you're worried about your little bean. ((HUGS)) as I don't have a solution since I'm right there with you. I even look at my belly in the mirror every day to make sure that it doesn't look smaller at all. Mind you, this is with no bleeding, no cramping, no nothing that should make me think something's wrong. Hang in there. I think this will get easier once we're able to feel movement more consistently and it's stronger!
Mama I have gained a lot and nothing by 20+ weeks and every baby came out just fine. I was so sick w/ an illness w/ my 6th I vomited and lost 11 pounds in one week and wasn't well for a month. One baby I only gained 11lbs the entire pregnancy and he was over 9lbs. Try not to worry, baby is fine.
I lost 20 lbs in the first trimester, but I'm a little overweight, too, so I'm not worried about it. I haven't gained ANY weight yet-I'm still -16 from when I got pregnant. I started feeling some movement around 17-18 weeks but this week I haven't felt a lot of movement at all. I think it just depends on how the baby is laying. I do know the bones start to harden around 20 weeks, so you should start to feel some movement after that point.
