Nervous Wreak & scared over Ultrasound today...

I know I have talked about all this on other post in Im Pregnant section on MDC! I just wanted all of what happened today to go here.

I have pcos I have the string of pearl ovaries.I have not ever taken Metformin lost all my weight with diet alone.

Now that I am preg I have had some carb cravings. This could all be in my head having craving. But scared if I eat them I will miscarry.

This is my 3 pregnancy I never had PCOS or the symptoms untill two years ago. After my second DC I breastfed 2 years & then the PCOS symptoms started. So I was able to have two babes full term without metformin.

I don't know how far I am due to the Pcos.Last two periods were Nov 1 & Dec 10.

Pregnancy test were all NEG untill Jan 24.Well I was taking them up till the 20th

I have had major cramps. My breast feel sore & I feel I have had some kind of nausea.Plus lots of lower back pain.

Ok went to dr today, and got ultrasound. My lining she said was nice and thick & that it was a good sign in pregnancy. She asked if my dates on my period were right though. There was nothing to see on the ultrasound no yolk sac nothing. She said I was prob still to early.

They took blood test, and will take another on Monday to compair HCG levels.I have taken 6 HPT all positive.

I don't know what to think. How far along could I be?Being I never have taken Met should I be taking it?Will it really make a diffrence if I start now?I don't want to worry about miscarriage.Although I know thats ALWAYS a possiblity in any pregnancy this early.

Why did we not see anything on the ultrasound exept a thick lining?I am scared.I know this will sound silly but I already love this baby, and don't want to worry.

(((((((hugs))))))))) did they check your progesterone levels along with the hcg?  You might call and ask.. as that's imho what would make a difference to preventing a miscarriage at this stage would be if your progesterone is low you can supplement it now and save the baby.  Low progesterone is common with PCOS (I have PCOS too).

So far I've been PG 4 times (I have three boys and another baby due in May), and the first two times I needed progesterone support for the first trimester (until the placenta takes over producing it).  The first time my progesterone level was 11.3 the 2nd time it was 8 or 9 I think, the third time though it was 27 (and fine).  Didn't get it checked this last time but baby seemed to be fine thankfully despite that.

Although I've been on metformin since before my first pregnancy and am still on it, I would caution against starting it to 'prevent' miscarriage while already PG.  Most women go through quite a slew of side effects when they first start metformin that can be quite draining (diarrhea being the biggest one I hear about), so doing that while in early PG could be very exhausting/stressful for your body.

If your body does fine without it (aka your able to control your blood sugar, and manage your weight, conceive etc) then I wouldn't be in a hurry to take it.  I have severe hypoglycemia and ovulate infrequently so being on it has been helpful for me, but everybody is different ((hugs)).

Give it another week or two baby should show up on the U/S soon.  My ovulation when it does happen is all over the map, with my first kid I ovulated on day 11 of my cycle, 2nd kid I ovulated on day 40, and don't know for the last couple pregnancies.  But I know my due date is almost never right/has to be corrected due to odd ovulation times.

Thanks for the hug needed that !!!!Nope they didn't test progestorone.I will call and ask about that. Its really stressing me out as I am already attached to this pregnancy.

I was brave and took a half metformin tonight feel fine.Just scared that taking out of nowhere it could cause miscarrage and not taking it could.

Why does PCOS have to be such a pain in the rear end?

If you didn't get a positive HPT until last week an u/s won't show anything yet. Just give it time which I know is hard. I've had 3 babies since I was dx with PCOS. The first one I wasn't on met at all, the second I weaned off at 16w and I'm still on it at 29w this time. Not sure about starting it after you're pregnant but if you got pg on it you might not need it. Getting a full panel of bloodwork done is good and getting another u/s in 2-3 weeks would be ideal. I know it's tough to wait. Hang in there!

I got my HCG levels she said they were at the high end for 4 weeks & to come in Monday & take another hcg test to see if they double.I brought up the question about progestorone, and nurse acted like I didn't need it.She said she would check with Dr,and see if it would be needed with my next HCG test.
