9 month old suddenly spitting up all the time?

Is this normal?

My DS never really spit up as a baby. Every now and again the tiniest bit would come out, but we never had to worry about burp cloths or extra changes of clothes or anything like that. All of a sudden he's spitting up all the time! Not massive amounts, but maybe a tablespoon. Its not forceful, it kind of just leaks out. Sometimes it seems like it comes up in his mouth and he just swallows it before it can come out. Its multiple times a day, usually while he's crawling. As soon as it hits the floor he thinks its amazing to smear it all around, awesome.

He started crawling around a month ago but in the last few weeks has really picked up speed and loves to get in and out of sitting positions and pull up to standing. We also started solids a month ago. Is it just related to all the extra movement he's doing? He seems happy but a few times its somehow come out his nose and then he'll cry like it hurts.

Cecilia wasn't a spit-up baby either, and when she suddenly started doing it around 7-8 months, in the same quantities you describe, it really bothered me. I talked to some of my non first-time mama friends, and they all said they thought it was from teething, that they had noticed the same thing with their babes. She doesn't do it anymore now, at almost 10 months, so whatever it was, it went away, thankfully!

good to know, thanks! he only has 2 teeth so I'm sure its time for some more:) He seems happy and like it doesn't bother him but its messy and I feel bad when it comes out his nose. Hopefully it doesn't last long!
