Latex Mattress Topper and/or have you bought from organictextiles.com?

We just purchased two 100% cotton mattresses (need a script) for our family, and one three inch cotton topper.  After several nights of sleep, my back and whole body is killing me.  The pressure points are so bad for me that I feel like I'm sleeping on a rock.  We avoided latex and wool, because I have minor allergies to both, but now are considering buying a latex topper, and I think I'll be fine if it doesn't come in contact with my skin.  We've already spent so much money on these mattresses, that I hate to waste more.

Can anyone suggest a good latex topper that is somewhat budget friendly?  Also, I want it to be natural latex.  Does anyone know if there is some sort of certification for this, or do you just have to trust the company?  TIA!

Overstock always has really affordable prices for bedding. I just searched and found this: http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=latex+topper&SearchType=Header

Thanks for the link.  The problem with Overstock (which I normally love) is that all of their bedding that I've been able to find has flame retardants, etc., which we don't want.  Or, their latex is blended with other chemicals :(.

Has anyone bought latex from organictextiles.com?  Their latex is supposedly natural, and it is cheap, but I don't know what kind of company they are.  Plus, then I'd have the latex and would have to make the mattress, so if anyone has info on that too, please help :).

I have been buying the E.C.O. latex toppers from overstock any concluded they didn't  have flame retardants and were 100% natural latex when I decided on them a few months ago, I really hope that is true. The boxes say it's a 2nd but they have been fine, maybe one edge not quite straight. They are "soft" grade not "firm." We stacked and put into a cotton futon cover as a mattress. Futon cover is 100% cotton from bedbathstore, about $35, says made in usa on website but tag on cover says pakistan.

I don't mean to bust your bubble, but I am 99% sure this isn't 100% natural latex.  The initial description just says "latex" which indicates it isn't natural.  Then later in the description it says naturally derived from the tropical rubber tree, but it doesn't state that it isn't mixed which a bunch of other junk/synthetics which are a lot cheaper.  And then it says, latex is an organic rubber based product, which it is, in fact, but it doesn't state that they only use natural organic latex in this topper.  I'd love to be proven wrong, because this is much cheaper than I've seen, but I think they are just doing a great job of playing with words.  Also, their actual mattresses are most definitely not latex...they have two inches of latex and six inches of "foam" (read: chemicals) even though they list it as their 8 inch latex mattress.  And, nowhere does it say that they don't use flame retardants, so my guess is they do.  Companies that care about your health and understand their customers desires list that out specifically because it is a big selling point.  Just want to tell you so you can check it out further and be sure of what you're sleeping on.  If you find out they are actually on the up and up, please reply!  I don't want to spend any more than I have to on this thing ;)

I will look into this more, my understanding is that mattresses have to be flame retardant and toppers don't, not that I have that in writing from the company or anything. I'll reply when I have more info on the eco toppers.

Overstock E.C.O. topper info that isn't on their website:

the company named on the box the topper came in, a sticker on the interior bag, and some of the pads themselves have a label on the end that all says jeffco or jeffco fibers, the box also says evereden. I think the box said 100% natural latex but can't check as I didn't save them.

http://www.jeffcofibres.com/sleep_topper_pads.htm

When I called the company,( I just did again to see if they said they same thing they did a few months ago), they say the toppers are 100% natural latex, nothing else and no flame retardants. I don't have any way of checking this, I wish there was a test kit from bromine like there is for lead. If anyone knows of other ways to verify a companies claims on something like this I would be very interested! The company does use other types of foam in their other products so they are not focused on a eco market, I do like to support places that make  just natural products and often do, but didn't in this case. Good, luck deciding, I would be curious to know what you pick and any other info you can dig up on the topic.

If anyone reads this and does order from Overstock , the did send one the wrong size, but were fine about exchanging it, just double check before you open it all up it as it is hard to get back into the box!
