what could be causing a lowered immune system in my toddler?

i know this question seems a little weird, because he does not have any big health issues at all, but i am still concerned as to why he has gotten 2 colds this month and apparently seems to have some type of skin wart thing that our chiropractor pointed out it was not very common, and his immune system is probably  little low right now.

he is 2.5 and he usually gets sick 2-4 times a year, maybe 2 day long stomach bugs and then 1-2 colds that last on average 10 days.  but this year, he got his regular 10 day cold after xmas staying with sick people always and flying.  and now 2 weeks later he has another cold and this wart thing.

I think we eat fairly well, not crap processed stuff, but im definitely not too strict, i think anyway.

i give him cod liver oil and probiotic daily for supplements. we do a green smoothie everyday, he eats fresh fruit and steamed veggies everyday. we eat organic meat, eggs etc. the only dairy he eats is occasional yogurt, because i dont give him milk, and he doesnt like cheese.  what else?  he gets regualr routine sleep.  nap is 2 hours on average and he sleeps about 10 hours at night on average.

i know this sounds so silly, but i care a lot about nutrition for our family, and so no i feel kind of like a failure:( am i missing something?

i am going to start to do nettle and red raspberry infusions and hopefully he'll take to those, and i have also started giving him bee pollen and rose hips in his applesauce.

any suggestions or good mama advice?

molluscum contagiosum is what our chiropractor said the two bumps looked like.  i am just putting tea tree oil on them and hoping they dont spread.  but my real concern is his immune system.  i just think if he is showing symptoms of this virus, what about the other viruses that we do not vaccinate against? it just makes me second guess my decisions as a mother, kwim?

Hmmm....I'm not sure that it might not be just increased exposure? Kids get a lot of sickness on average as they are exposed to increasing numbers of unique (to them) bugs. The molloscum contagiosum isn't entirely uncommon in kids--I think all he has to do is have skin contact with a surface the virus. He may have just been unlucky rather than it being his immune system!

Vitamin D levels, though, are worth checking imo. He may be (likely is..many are unless supplementing) low and that will affect immune system. Do make sure the probiotic you are using is proven to survive to make it to the intestines. Many aren't and don't.

I can give you other ideas to raise his immune system (my son does have issues). But I'm not at all sure it's worth the expense/that he has issues based on what you describe.

thank you for your thoughts, and i can see how he is being exposed to much more stuff now that hes a little older.  we are out and about a fair amount of time.  I guess i have first time mom paranoia!

but we live in chicago right now, so his vitamin d levels could definitely not be up to par...
