I see you've found the Vancouver Island Mamas thread, but I'll add my bit here too as well. We moved here last year and have completely fallen in love with the island and "small town" living. One of the neat things about this area is that it's so easy to get anywhere from Victoria to Nanaimo and in-between. We regularly attend activities and playdates in Malahat, Mill Bay, Ladysmith. It's an easy highway drive to all these places and I find commuting an entirely different experience here than on the mainland. There are loads of crunchy folks here, a huge local farming community, many sources of organic and local foods, etc. Also a fabulous homeschooling community.
