Print copy not arriving till after I see it in store?

I'm not sure if this is where to post this question, but my last several print issues have arrived really late to my house. I still haven't received my Jan/Feb issue and its almost February.  With other magazines I've subscribed to in the past, I received my copy before the current issue would even hit the stores.  I love Mothering so much that I get impatient when I see the magazine in the store but don't yet have my current copy. :)  Is there a reason for this?  Thanks!

Hi, thank you for asking and very sorry for the delay! I believe there have been printing delays. I have been informed that issues should be arriving shortly in mailboxes. Any specific questions about subscriptions, delays, etc. can be sent to subscriptions@mothering.com

Thank you so much for your support of MDC/Mothering!

i feel like there has been printing delays in the last few issues. and its really disruptive  i have emailed subscriptions and all you get back in an automatic reply that doesnt answer any questions. i feel like i am paying to get a magazine that never comes on time. if this keeps happening i'm not going to want to renu my subscription in the future

yeahthat.gif  DITTO.  I am getting very frustrated with the repeated delays. This is the third or fourth edition that I haven't gotten until several weeks after I should have.  Still haven't gotten the January issue and it's February already.

I just came here to post about this. It is very upsetting. I got my last issue a whole issue late. I didn't get it until after the NEXT issue came out two months LATER. I sent a letter about it and got two issues of the next issue on the same day instead. Getting two of the exact same issue doesn't make it better. :(

This time, I'm TWO issues behind. I still have not received my Nov/Dec issue. I get really disappointed because there seems to be nothing I can do about it. When I send an e-mail, I get an automatic reply and then nothing else (except for the two issues that arrived together). We don't have a book store here anymore. Our only one closed and no place here sells your magazine and I couldn't afford full price even if they did. I can't read the online version because I don't have that much time to spend on the computer. I can only read while putting my daughter to sleep so I need a print copy.

So I'm basically forced to wait months for the issues I paid for. I don't want to ask for a cancellation because then I wouldn't receive Mothering at all. It's pretty upsetting to know that I have to pay the same price as everyone else, but I'm practically reading back-issues because the seasonal issues are no longer applicable.

It would be really nice if Mothering could do something about this. I used to get excited when I would find Mothering in my mailbox. Now it just makes me really angry. :(

I have not received mine either, and had delays with the last 2 as well.

I emailed the subscription department on Tuesday and never heard back. I have called several times in the last few days and all I get is a recording saying that I have called after business hours (if 2pm in the afternoon, MST, is not business hours than I am confused!!). Where is everyone??!!

I am thinking that more might be going on than a simple delay in printing.

I'm with you on this. I've even had at least 1 issue never arrive. Kinda frustrating to have that digital copy sitting in my e-mail for 1-2 months because I prefer reading the paper version. Why is the magazine more often late than on time? Mothering Magazine isn't cheap and I kind of expect better service...

I asked the Mothering Subscriptions staff about this. There is a delay with the Jan-Feb print issue and yes, there has been a print delay for a few issues now. We should know more later this week. They extend their apologies and appreciation for your patience and understanding.

I am so glad it isn't just me!  Thanks to everyone who aired my frustrations for me.

When I worked as a library technician it was standard practice for publishers to extend subscriptions for each problem issue.  I wonder if Mothering could offer something like that, or maybe that is only something that can be worked through a journal vendor such as we had.

it gets frustrating when theres a delay every month. i didnt pay to have a delay its rediculous i most likely will not be renewing my subscription after being a subscriber for a very long time. this is how you lose customers

My DH shakes his head every two months as I wait and wait and wait for "mothering" magazine, all the while, he gets about three car magazine subscriptions in the time that I am waiting for one. He also gets a specific car magazine and it only comes six times a year, but it is never late. It probably has less readership than mothering magazine....it wouldn't be so bad waiting if the issues were longer, but the articles are usually good quick reads, then it's another over two months wait for the next one...I wish it came out every month-- on time, sigh.

I hope there is some sort of apology and incentive to stick with the magazine for all this grief - I'm ticked that I renewed my subscription already, won't be doing that again with this kind of service!

Dear Mothering Fans-
Good customer service is very important to us and we apologize for not answering all of your questions on facebook. However, we do not have a print date to tell you yet. We will know more early next week. Please check back with us then. In the meantime please feel free to contact me at simones@mothering.com with any specific questions.
Thank you for your patience.

I'm sorry that I don't have any more details to share. Simone will be the person to contact with any complaints or questions since MDC doesn't have access to the subscription database to help with individual account questions. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused Mothering's loyal readers.

obviously good customer service is not very important to you guys because the magazine has been late over and over again. and when you contact subscription or simone all you get is an automated reply that does you no good

I was supposed to get a subscription as a Christmas gift (it was purchased around Thanksgiving) and I STILL have not received my first issue despite sending e-mails to Mothering. It's kind of sad... I've been reading the magazine since I was a teenager, but now I'm just honked. I've never had a problem getting a magazine before.

I am wondering if the magazine is having financial problems?  It is understandable that they may have problems during these trying times, however, they should immediately make a website, e-mail, and facebook announcement as soon as they know there will be a delay in printing.  Has ANYONE received their Jan/Feb issue yet?  I'm glad its not just me, I thought I was being unreasonably impatient, but yeesh.

Is it in stores now?  The one store that used to carry it here no longer does.

I can understand a delay for all print, but if retailers have received it and subscribers haven't, that is a different matter.

So we now know that the Jan/Feb issue was never printed. I love Mothering and understand this had to be a tough decision, but there were several posts from mods here saying the "Jan/Feb issue will be in mailboxes soon".... so that was really never the case right? It was never printed at all?
