Chronic UTI's and Mastitis following birth of second child...need help figuring this out.

I need some help figuring out what is going on with my body. I know alot of you mama's have some great information, so I thought I'd post here. My dd2 is 2.5 months old, the birth was normal and I had no complications. I have had about 4 UTI's since she was born and Mastitis twice. My urologist is puzzled about why I am getting so many UTI's one on top of another. I have had a bladder and Kidney scan and they were fine. She now wants to put a scope in my bladder to check. I have also had pretty much every breastfeeding problem and since my dd's frenulum was clipped 3 weeks ago I have been dealing with plugged ducts and have had mastitis 2x. I don't feel like myself at all, I feel really run down and fatigued.

I am normally a very healthy person, so I am really upset by this. I'm desperately trying to find child care as I think my exhaustion and stress has contributed to this.

I had MRSA last year and am starting to wonder if these infections are MRSA infections?

what kind of bladder/kidney scan was it? A CT scan? Have they done a cystoscopy where they look up the bladder? Did you have any tearing during the birth? Just wondering if you could have had something that I can't remember the name of where if there's a certain kind of tear, then the bowel stuff can get into the bladder. One thing you can do, that is safe, is drink water with lemon in it. It alkalizes the urine so that the bacteria can't attach to the wall of the bladder, or something like that. Can't remember exactly, but if I am very diligent about it, I can keep the UTIs at bay (I have a compressed nerve issue, so my bladder muscles don't work; they did a cystogram that hooked up all the different muscles, then they filled my bladder and emptied it to check everything). I've had about every kind of test on my bladder, kidneys, etc.

I feel your pain on the mastitis I had it 4 times with DD. Are you taking antibiotics? I know for mastitis and bladder infections that's what's typically given but maybe that's contributing to the reoccurring UTIs? Garlic cured my mastitis every time I never once used the abx. I don't know anything about MRSA D-mannoose for uits?  Anyway just suggestions. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in

Thanks ladies....I am on antibiotics and now have the thrush that goes along with it. How do you take the garlic...are the odorless pills at whole foods as effective as the raw stuff? Dr hasn't done the bladder test yet, but that's what it will be the cystoscopy. I wondered about a tear during birth and asked her this and she said that it wasn't likely, i don't know if the kidney scan where they looked at the bladder would show this.

It's true that it's not likely but if they've only been around since the birth, then something happened. Are you taking probiotics offset from the antibiotics, to keep the thrush at bay?

yes and diflucan and the all purpose nipple cream (just started today..great stuff) I also think this was a result of a birth injury...or perhaps can a cystocele (sp?) cause recurring UTI's?
