Cosleeping setup for newborn now that I can't use my old arms reach?

I posted in the mindful home forum about my old arms reach mini co-sleeper, which has been in my mom's basement since DD1 5 years ago - I steam-cleaned it but it stills smells musty and after reading the response I got and a few more things online, I'm not sure I should keep it. It seems clean but the possibility of mold or mildew has me freaked out.

Sooooo... I'm wondering what you all would suggest for a co-sleeping setup with this new baby who's due to arrive in a week or so. I was not sure I'd attach the cosleeper to the bed anyway (would just use it with the sides up as a bassinet) because our box spring is directly on the floor with mattress on top -- the bed frame we had was a hazard with sharp corners and Dd1 fell out of bed sometimes when she was a cosleeping toddler, so we just got rid of it. I'd like to have a bassinet or something next to the bed to make nursing a newborn easier, I don't feel comfortable having a baby in bed all night with my very sound-sleeping DH until she can move somewhat independently. Dd1 sleeps on her own now (but likes to come in for snuggles in the morning.)

I could buy another co-sleeper, but can I even attach it to the bed if it's just a mattress and box spring on the ground? I could get some other sort of bassinet-type thing to keep next to the bed, but I have no idea what would be best. I could get a snuggle nest but I'm worried there might not be enough room in our queen sized bed. Also we have cats which means I don't want to do a Moses basket on the floor or something like that... And the cheaper/ longer lasting the solution, the better. I could possibly just put baby on my side away from DH and skip buying anything (and in fact that's what usually ended up happening with Dd1)...just worried that I'll want other options. I just never thought to research this this pregnancy because i thought I'd use my old cosleeper.

What would you do?
