A name to go with Lucy?

I don't know where else to turn!  I am very picky and I can't come up with a name!!!  I had this trouble with my first daughter, too.  It was awful.  I used to be a teacher and I have an aversion to what seems to be every name on earth.  :(  I wish I weren't so picky.  I have a 1 yr old dd named Talula Claire.  We call her Lu or Lucy as a nickname.  She's most often introduced as Lucy in her little music classes or whatever and will probably go more by that than anything - though we often use her full name at home, too.  I am trying to find a name for dd #2, due in late May (more likely June).  I would love to find something that goes with Lucy...but not necessarily too heavy on the old lady vintage names.  Like, I don't want it to seem like that's our naming theme with our kids.  But, I do tend to like those names a little better.

A name I do like is, Millie.  However, I don't like ANY of the full forms (Milicent, Amelia, Mildred, Melissa, etc.)  And I really want her to have a full, formal name and would only want to use Millie as a nickname.  Can you think of any names that:

1. go really well with Lucy

2. go well with a one syllable last name

3. are in the same style as Millie

4. Oh and feel free to tag on middle names, too!  Cause I am just stumped.

Thanks for any help!  I know these name threads are endless and I appreciate anyone who happens to contribute to mine! smile.gif

P.S.  The girls' great grandmothers BOTH had the middle name, Mae.  I'm not opposed to including it into the new baby's name, but I haven't been able to come up with anything I like so far.  But, if dd 2 is born in May...well, it just seems like I should use it somehow.  Meh, I don't know...it's a lead anyway.

To clarify, you already have a daughter you call Lucy, correct?  You are looking for a sibling name that is kind of formal, that goes with your daughter's nickname of Lucy, and which may be a derivative of Millie.  And work with a one-syllable lastname.  Okay...hmm.

Well, I can't think of any Millie names, but some names with cute nicknames that go well with Lucy/Lu might be:

Abigail (Abby)

Allison (Allie)

Annabel (Annie) <-- I think Annie & Lucy are super cute together

Romina (Romi)

Annalisa (Lisa)

Elizabeth (Liz, Betsy, Libby, etc.)

Elena (Ellie)

Juliana (Julie)

Dorothy (Dottie)

Kathleen (Katie/Kate)

Isabel(la) (Izzie, Bella)

I'll keep thinking...

My first thoughts were Molly and Milla (maybe short for Camilla - but Camilla would also work for Milly).

Other ideas:

Ellie

Charlotte

Maggie

Alice

Josie

Elsie

Nellie

Ivy

Matilda (Tilly)

Good luck!

Camille

Milana (or Milena)

Miliana

Matilda

Milah

How about  Meilani (MAY-LAA-nee). It contains that "Mae" sound, and you could still call her "Millie" for short.

Or Mahlia?

Try this site:

you can put in Millie and other names you like, and it'll suggest similar names. Then you give them thumbs up or down and it goes from there. I was obsessed during my last pregnancy, we had a very hard time with names too!

What about Elizabeth shortened to Betty?

It isn't shortened to Millie but similar to Lucy, is Ruby.
