6 yo dog can't walk and not eating or drinking

My 6 yo 35 lb rottie mix is very sick and we can't afford a vet visit.  He has been refusing kibble for A WHILE now, at least 6 months, so he gets scraps and pieces of the meat we'll be having for dinner.  Two days ago he had half of a raw chicken breast and yesterday he ate the rest of it though he didn't scarf like normal.  DH let the dogs out this morning and when I let them in, Harp ran to go downstairs, but stumbled on the step and couldn't get up.  Now he can't walk, DH set him outside to potty but he couldn't get up to go.  He refused oatmeal mmixed with gravy which he usually likes, he drank a lap or two of water and refused chicken broth.  Any ideas as to what may be happening?

The not walking sound like a hip issue (possibly fracture or dislocation).  As for the eating issues any of a myriad of issues could be at hand.  I would get the dog to a clinic.  Some cities have 'free' clinics or shelters.

if this is an ongoing problem, i'd say cancer. my friend just had to put her rotty down for bone cancer. he was having trouble walking, and that was the problem. good luck honey.
