WHOAH! Total hormone hit 4 days postpartum - milk came in

I don't remember this with my first DS, but I also wasn't putting him to the breast (we pumped). My milk came in overnight and holy mackeral the hormone shift today was palpable. Of course getting used to the sleep deprivation all over again after a 6-year age difference is pretty startling, but I wasn't prepared to have such hard-hitting weepy moments as I did today. My neighbor nursed all her children for 1 year+ each and told me the same thing happened to her.

Anyone else go through this? Do the hormones stabilize as you continue nursing?

I had the hormonal weepy spells after both kids, for about a week-10 days. Taking Motherwort really helped a LOT, after #2: a few drops in hot water to evaporate the alcohol, every time I felt the weepiness coming on. Tastes vile, but very effective :)

there is an old saying that I share with most of my postpartum clients..."with the milk comes the tears"

yes, absolutely it should get better!  generally it passes in 1-2 weeks.
