5 yr old DS co-sleeping and now 9 wks pregnant....afraid new baby will interfere with DS sleep! ...

I have been separated from my husband for 7 months now.  Since then, I moved my 5 yr old ds back into bed with me due to current living arrangements.  My ds has many anxieties and fears and cannot sleep alone!  I am now 9 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child (same father) and am starting to think about sleeping arrangements.  I know many of u have multiples co-sleeping and need some advice/re-assuring.  There is plenty of room in my king-sized bed but I am afraid of how the new baby awakening throughout the night to feed will disturb my ds"s sleep....he can be a light sleeper during parts of the night....

Hi!  Man, what a tricky situation.  I feel for you.

I sleep alone a lot of nights with my two (one is 3yo, the other 9mo).  I was really worried about them disturbing each other and us all being up all night, but honestly?  We all sleep better when we're together.  The two of them really got used to each other's nighttime movements and noises.  I'm not saying they don't wake each other up sometimes, but it's definitely not the norm.  And I prefer it to having to sleep with a baby monitor, too.

So, it can be done.  Maybe some other mamas will chime in. :)

Hi there!  My husband works nights so I am alone with my son at nighttime too.  My son is 2 years old, but we want to start trying for baby #2 starting in June or July.  I am a little worried about the new baby waking up my son and vice versa.  But I just hope that my son will get used to the new baby in bed and sleep through the new baby's cries.  I'm sure it will be a little rough the first few weeks, but I believe they will both adjust to each other.  I don't want this issue to be the reason for waiting to have another baby.  I truly believe it will all work out, although it may take some time for your son, and my son, to get used to the new baby in the bed.
