OB will not give me a Progestorone Test WTH!!!!!! update.

I got my second HCG test it doubled. Now with my PCOS I am sure my Progest levels could be low.I asked the Dr.today about it,and she told me it was something she was not worried about. They said they would not test me WTH.There reason was that I have not had a miscarriage in the past so it was pointless, but if this one ends in that, they will test me next time I fall pregnant.I am in tears right now.I contacted my ENDO to see if he would give me one just waiting back on that call.

What are foods I can eat right now?Can I take a wild yam cream?I am just sick to my tummy right now with anxiety!

Testing progesterone is the standard of care when there is reason to suspect a miscarriage or to be concerned.  That said, when I had a miscarriage the ER doc refused to run the test for me for some reason (I am a CNM).  You could call your regular health care provider or possibly one of those minute clinic places (not sure if they do that type of thing, I am fairly sure they do preg tests).

Chances are, all is well!  Best of luck.

I have had two m/c's in 24 months of trying.  Now that I'm pregnant again my doctor won't do anything more than one set of HCG for me since I haven't had three miscarriages.  Some doctors, well, I don't really know what to say.  Just good luck and I hope everything goes well.

You ladies need some more responsive OBs!  Maybe I;ve just had super nice ones, but what a difference it made in my life to feel like my OB cared about me and wanted to make sure another miscarriage didn't happen again. It still did happen, but not for lack of testing or trying on both our parts. Thankfully this pregnancy so far is going well. I am with a new OB in a new state and he is just as compassionate and proactive as my old one in Erie.

Definitely get a second opinion.

I'd agree to get a second opinion, ask your regular md, etc. I can't believe the won't run a simple test. Why would it hurt to run it? Then I'd go find a new MW/OB. If they aren't supportive now they won't be in the long run either. I just TOLD my OB what I wanted after I had my second m/c and they did whatever I wanted.

I'd find a new OB/MW

The diagnosis of PCOS is enough to warrant a progesterone test, regardless of history. I've never had a doctor refuse a test I requested before. You are in charge of your health, not them they work for you. There is no risk in testing.

Personally I wouldn't supplement without know what your levels are, but if you do natural progesterone cream would be the way to go, but you have to be careful to take it everyday and wean yourself off of it as a sudden drop in levels could be bad....

I am sorry everyone else has doozy dr's aswell.I am scared DP will be mad if I change dr's again. This would be my second time changing already.I did find a lab at my ENDO that would do the test.So I will do that.If its low I am faxing it to the dr's at the baby center, and well tell them how careless there are.

I hope they can find out if your progesterone is low or not. Just for the record I've had PCOS with my last three babes and never had low progesterone. But I really think you should talk to them about your frustration or find someone else. It is SO important to have a care giver that is really supportive of you especially when you hit the third tri, etc.

I got my Progest tested early morning today. It was 22.5.My endo office said it would be faxed over to my gyno.I have no clue if thats low or normal or if I should be using a natural progest cream?

When I am looking at early miscarriages I like to see it at least 12-15.  So looks good!

That's a great number. With DS (and supplements) I only ever got up to 11.5 (or maybe it was 10.5) anyway With this pregnancy I was at 27.5 which is great.

So with the chart thingy below you are right where you should be.

http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/earlyfetaldevelopment.htm

Guideline to Progesterone levels during pregnancy:

• 1-28 ng/ml Mid Luteal Phase (Average is over 10 for un-medicated cycles and over 15 with medication use)
• 9-47 ng/ml First trimester
• 17-146 ng/ml Second Trimester
• 49-300 ng/ml Third Trimester

*There are many averages for progesterone levels. These charts are a very broad guideline—speak with your health care professional for more specific guidelines for you.

Glad you had a good number. That's one less thing to worry about!
