can someone explain phimosis and paraphimosis to me?

First Phimosis there are 2 types the first is Physiologic which all boys are born with and is normal and healthy. The second is Pathologic this one is found in older boys and young men who have had damage of some sort to the foreskin and it will not retract.

Paraphimosis is where the foreskin is retracted behind the glans and gets stuck this is an emergency situation and must be resolved as soon as possible to prevent loss of the glans and possibly penis because blood circulation is cut off. There is one more kind of phimosis that is frequently forgotten and dismissed- but it's listed in the AAP circumcision policy statement- it's the iatrogenic kind - post circumcision phimosis- which occurs when the penis pulls back into it'sd shortened skin sleeve (sometimes cause by chubby baby pubic fat) and the circumcision scar winds up infront of the glans rather than on the shaft of the penis- this scar can become inelastic and constricted. So even circumcised boys can suffer from phimosis.

Interestingly- this study says it happens in 2.9% of circumcised boys- a rate higher than the total rate of circumcision complications the AAP "owns up to" in their statement listing twenty named complications- including meatal stenosis that happens to 8-9% of circumcised boys.  So right here with phimosis and meatal stenosis we have over 10% complication rate and still haven't counted the other 18 issues.  What's up AAP?  How can you give an estimate of less tha n half of one percent in the presence of numbers like these?
