well, matthew wood's "seven herbs" suggests easter lily FE for period problems, esp. physically.

there are loads that would undoubtedly help... i think a lot of it depends on what your reactions are.... i guess i should just ask on the FE thread! lol. i do think my new FE (which i think is my "constitutional") is helping. finding one's "one" flower would be of help. not that 14 others wouldnt help as well.... ;-)

cell salt wise, the potassium salts (kali) are for emotional things (anxiety, etc).... specifically kali phos sounds like the most likely one, although kali sulph is the one that corresponds with pulsatilla, which is for hormonal anxiety. dont know enough to know how precisely that corresponds, yet. been reading loads, though. :-)

Y'all-- go to the Hcg support thread in the Health and Healing forum.

first of all, you are stunning and you are amazing and yay! :-)

right. change of subject. lol. i do that when MIL brings up a news story about something awful some awful person did to a child, and always at the dinner table, and in front of ds. "how bout them jets" (or other seasonally appropriate sports team) is my go-to. everyone laughs and the subject gets dropped....

i do need something like that for the other branch of the family, though. especially after the christmas debacle..... a certain family member would NOT be so easily distracted....... must think on that one. :-)

in grad skool, we had a group that met for coffee every Mon, Wed and Fri for about 1/2 hour.  when we ran out of topics or when the topic became ... uncomfortable (too personal - we were quite raunchy - or outside of one's comfort zone - sometimes we did talk about science), someone would usually quip in with "so.... how 'bout them Huskies?" (we were after all at UConn though most of us didn't follow the sports teams).  or "so, how 'bout that <insert latest big weather thing>?"  the academic version of "pass the bean dip".

aweyn, we're using easter lily in a client who has acne exacerbated from years on the pill.  curious to see how that works for her.

I'm SO SICK of histology.  this is a stupid 3 credit course and i'm only halfway through the textbook.  i found the case studies in the online student thingy for the textbook so that put things into perspective - sort of.  since we can't run diagnostic tests, it's doubtful i will ever use this info directly.  only indirectly.  at least, for the foreseeable future.

went to a little herbalist gathering for imbolc "Awakening the Heart" - where the group leaders discussed heart-related herbal remedies.  the thing that bothers me about herbal medicine is that there is the presumption that one can liberally take an herb for whatever the ailment du jour might be.  and then one needs to take it for quite a while.  they forget that many many herbs have a toxic component (it's what makes them medicinal, not culinary) and that it is THAT aspect that one taps into for the homeopathic effect. we were talking about garlic and one of the leaders suggested 1 clove a day for good heart function, but that it could be potent and irritating if eaten alone.  so i quipped in with (quite seriously actually) "salad dressing".  hey, if you can't incorporate an herb into your almost everyday menu, then what chance is there of you doing it out of habit?  anyhow, they all just kind of looked at me like i had ten heads.  guess it's a good thing i didn't mention that i usually put 4 cloves of garlic into salad dressing that dh and i share at lunch time.  no wonder i don't have people coming to my office, and instead relying on the phone and email.

and for a good laugh.... i just have to share... it really is TMI but it was really funny at the time.  dh and i were in the garage about to get our tie-up boots on.  he... uh... passed wind then bent over to tie up his boots.  EPIC FAIL because of course his nose ended up where the foul air was.  so, mental note, if you have to do the same, move to a different location.  or wait until your boots are securely fastened to your feet before you pass wind.

This is a great idea:)  I am going to use it.  We all clean but never all of us at the same time.

No she didn't.  She did take drivers ed of course but you know teens they never think it will be them.  I hope this message sinks in but with this DD who knows.  I think we are going to make her drive us around so we can see how she's doing, sort of re-teach her.

She has lost her DL  for a min of 3 months per her Father and I.  She is supposed to work off the money by doing things around the house but she has got a huge chip on her shoulder and refuses to take responsibility. That has us thinking we are going to extend the time we hold her DL.

You are a lot more forgiving than I would be. Whose car is it?

It was my car she was in this time.  She has a car she shares with her Brother, but they wanted to listen to cd's so they used mine.  Not happening again!  She did have to give us all the money she had, which of course wasn't enough to cover the ticket so that's why she has to work off the rest.  I wish she could get a job but we live in such a small town there is nothing here.  If there was she would be working.

My 4 yr old is cutting up bananas to feed to the two -year-olds (home daycare children arriving any minute)  I hope they can eat as much as he wants to cut!  Oh well, there is always the bag of bananas-for-muffins in the freezer .

A clove of garlic is not very much!  I would love 4-clove salad dressing.  Dh, would not be so enthusiastic.  I used to grate garlic with a fine grater and spread it on toast with parmesan cheese.... And garlic and butter tossed with pasta (now rice) .

We put up a list of jobs and no one can do anything else until they are all crossed off.

Come to consider it, my whole household/life  has gotten a *lot* more organized since I started using madia (FES flower essence) a couple months ago .... hmmn.  What FE should I start giving my dh?  Something about overcoming fear of failure/fear of success.....what FE's for following through on one's plans?   I could do worse than share my Madia, probably....

Hope you all have a lovely day

Oh no!

I have headed off suspected food poisoning and a suspected tummy bug with a shot or two of master tonic or ACV, if you don't have any tonic.  I do not enjoy downing the shot, but it does seem to destroy the bugs.

MMmmmm.... garlic!  :)

bean dip- it does take practice, but it's usually great since it's non-confrontational.  There's just no place to "push back".  NPR had a story this morning about a prison that is using an intense meditation program (ten days, sitting meditation, no talking allowed) and the warden/prison psych wetre talking about how it's very effective... no one is pushing on the inmate, so there is no context for that inmate to use justification/denial/anger.  It's just the inmate and his thoughts.  But bean dip doesn't work on the more oblivious folk... kind of like a 3 year old, at a certain point it's nearly impossible to ignore/redirect the "mom... mom... mom... mom... mom..."  LOL

We lost power last night and it didn't come back till noon.  We're supposed to get an arctic blast... single digit temps, sub zero wind chill.  And then a snow dump.  I'm mostly worried about trees coming down.  Ice, snow, wind are not a good combo!  I'm sooooo ready for summer!  Forget spring, I want 70s and sunny!  :)

Its been so long since I've been in, I had to reset the password I forgot :(

Wow.. life is sure different.  My hubby and I run a talent agency, he's also a stuntman, we have 4 kids.  Life is unspeakably insane.  We're going to find some help, both at home and the office.  I feel so run off the path I wanted.  I keep telling myself that everyone who owns their own company has to make some sacrifices for awhile, until you have some roots in the ground... but I just feel so blah.  I am an agent, which means I can never turn my cell off or even down. Ever.  No time to do anything, let alone the quiet and personal celebrations I do for myself and my family.  I can't remember the last time we dance in a circle, or thanked the Goddess or God.  Ugh... Its been a rough day.  I miss this.  I'm going to leave this open so I can come in more often and at least try to keep up.

I hope you are all well :)

sage_ss - i've heard that the book "the four hour week" (or some variant thereof) is good.  i can't imagine doing it in my present context.  however, it might have some enlightening tips for you.

my dh is a computer system administrator for our research center so he too is on call 24/7/365 - only instead of people phoning, it is remote calls/pages from downed computer systems or frantic emails from users who can't access something they absolutely must have at midnight (he does let them stew about those problems but gets back to problem solving first thing in the morning).  he does have someone to pass the reins when we do depart town.  (somehow though the dude always ends up calling us *grumble*)

Sage- wondered how you have been. Wow, talent agent huh, that must be an interesting job, but it sure sounds stressful.

Money stuff- Grr, January was a rough month, with lots of extra unexpected bills but we made it through- now, I found out my Mom has been paying my school loan very, very late and is behind by 3 months. She gets all the bills, which has been our agreement but sheesh, if she wasn't paying them she should have told me. So, now, i am picking them up- which honestly, pisses me off since my parents paid for my sisters whole darn college. They paid for everything and i had to take out loans. So now, I have to figure out how to juggle that bill. I know it will be fine in the end, but it isn't like my Mom doesn't have the money, she just spends it very unwisely. (is unwisely a word, hehe?) My hubby will graduate soon, so then, we will have his bill and mine to pay every month. Grr! Ok, enough of that.

It was sure windy and cold today. Took such a long time to clean off my car and get to the post office. Glad to be home and warm again!

sage!!! hey hon! i've missed you! was thinking of you the other day... along with a couple other gals i really miss..... good to see you here! sorry things are so crazy. but i'm so glad to see you!!! squeeeee!!!!

redveg~ there are actually TWO floral essence threads, lol! so, go on.... check them out! here's the one in spirituality (which is also about homeopathy in general), and here's the one in health and healing. :-) both have good info... the H&H one tends to be more intense, and more on physical issues, and the spirituality one seems to be more about emotional things... at least i think that's a fair assessment..... of course, FE talk also makes its way on to the cell salts thread, which has got to be one of the most amazing resources on mdc..... (i hope i'm not making any UAVs there.... if i am, clay, lemme know!)

aubergine~ yay for FE effects! tansy does that for me. omgs, the laundry that gets done if i take tansy! it's frightening. lol.

actually, my first thought for your dh was tansy. i asked dh (who has very similar issues), and he said tansy and larch. you might also look at mimulus for the "fear" aspect. the thing i'm finding, though, is that while you can certainly take xyz flowers for xyz "symptoms"... you can clear the need for treating the symptoms if you can find the root issue..... so, mimulus will help reduce fears, but if there's an issue with feeling abc other thing, he'd be better served taking abc flower, kwim? example-- for me, larch helped me be able to express my opinion, but the underlying reason i have a fear of expressing my opinion was not addressed..... so, once i found the flower that addressed that-- i no longer need larch. it might help, but my "constitutional" flower actually in some ways does a better job. :-)

clay, lol about bean dip not working on the oblivious. that's the case i need something to help with. this person would just keep going. (very much like a 3 year old..........) we need advanced bean dip.............

here's a more juvenile alternative to the bean dip:
*pokes fingers in ears* la la la I can't hear you, I'm not listening la la la

sorry... just feeling a wee bit punchy tonight, so if i had to resort to bean dip tonight, I would have done something like that instead.

It's been nasty cold here too.  I am so over Winter.  This year it seems to be hitting me a lot harder than any other year.

SAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!  Heyla you!  :)  Glad to see you again though wow!  That's a lot on your plate at once!

Fingers in ears/advanced bean dip- garunteed to make my MIL see me as a responsible mature adult, yes?  ;)

COLD COLD COLD here.  Cold enough for coats.  lol  Actually it could be worse... it's a goegeous sunny day and the snow/ice is all diamond sparkle.  But it's frostbite weather and it's supposed to get colder.

Really want spring to spring.  Any ideas for a little weather magic?

I am ready for spring, and some weather magic too!  I don't have any ideas though lol.

Just catching up on my reading... as usual.

Taking the bus to school in the freezer weather today.  That's after I drag a 2 and 3 year old out in the cold to pick up the older DD's from their school. It wouldn't be so bad if every body would just shovel their walk.  It also wouldn't be so bad if I got my van fixed so I didn't have to keep dragging kids around town in the snow, while DP gets a cozy warm ride to and from work in his car.  ugh

Still have my Chinese lanterns hung for the new year.  I owe DD1 a delish Chinese dinner this weekend, since I didn't have the ingredients last week.

No school Thursday and Friday, so I'm going to do some DEEP cleaning.  Get my sewing area clean so I am motivated to sew at home and not just school.

*hugs* to all in need.... and for everyone else, also!

I dunno...at PSG they always say leave the weather magick to the weather magicians, that not lay-people can handle it. I don't much mess with weather, and I don't know why they say that, but I steer clear of it just in case shrug.gif

I have had such a relaxing morning. I'm mostly slacking off on the computer, but I have spent some time learning about Catholicism (what a complex religion!) and I cleaned out the (EW GROSS) cabinet under the kitchen sink (the compost and trash are both kept under there) which hasn't been done in over 3 years redface.gif and I've shredded some documents that needed shredding, and I'm working on cleaning the computer desk of its hot spot. And printing and organizing recipes, just a little bit.

Thinking about getting ready for Treasure Map time love.gif

ohhhhh... you wanted to have the aura of responsibility.  sorry, not my forte ;)  i'm a capricorn - stubborn and quite... goaty.  i read a horoscope once that said that if capricorns stand too long in one place, we take root and become trees.  "darn it, i'm doing it MY way" is my motto.  any other capricorns here that share that quality?

it's cold here too.  but the warmth is coming on the weekend.  i'll be sure to send it eastward when i'm done with it.

ok, you magic/magick workers...  ds seems to believe that there is no such thing as magic - this in spite of reading all those Magic Treehouse books and (nearly?) believing in "The Force".  i'm not into rituals and i don't overtly do magic/magick but i'm not so staunchly a disbeliever.  how do i teach him otherwise?
