Lots to Lose - Feb! - Page 6

thanks, eclipse, i will check that out at nap time ;)   and then i guess i'll try to measure my food as accurately as possible and just see what the scale says on monday.  i know that i don't want to be a calorie-counter forever, i just need to get a good idea of how much i'm currently consuming.

Hi,

I just rejoined the forums - I first joined when my daughter (now 6) was born and got a lot of support during those newborn months.

I am actually making a lot of new changes and would love support during this weight loss journey.

Welcome Gal!

So I actually went for a little hike with my 22 lbs backpack I mean DD lol I skipped breakfast though and then ate 2 big bowls of pasta...so IDK how much it helped. Weather is cheering up and so am I. I need to get out of hibernation mode!

Woohoo I just did the pussy cat dolls workout (well like 15 mins of it man was that hard!!!!) and 20 sit ups and 10 lower ab leg raises!

I think I am officially back on track! Now I have to focus on my eating better and sticking to it!

welcome galwaygal!

So I did a super long workout yesterday. I was feeling really good once I got going. I did my c25k run (W8D2), which was a 28 minute run with a 5 minute warm-up and cool-down. That burned 500 calories. Then I did 47 minutes on the bike, burning another 425 calories. I had a really light day of eating and when I stepped on the scale this morning....196!!!

I'm sure that maybe 2 pounds or so is water weight, but it would be really cool if I could keep it off until Monday's weigh-in. If so, I'd still be right on track with 3 pounds a week since the beginning of January orngbiggrin.gif

Welcome galwaygal!

This week I found a box set of Biggest Loser DVDs at Costco.  I got the 30 Day Jumpstart, Last Chance Workout, and Jillian Michaels Yoga Burn for $20!  I did the yoga this morning and it was tough, but doable.  I had to do some motifications, like doing push ups from my knees, but I did the whole thing and am already feeling it.

We are going over to my inlaws later, and my mother-in-law is ordering in fish and chips for dinner.  They have a place near them that has the yummiest fries ever.  So I am spending the day eating really healthy and made sure to get in a workout to make up for my indulgence later.  I think that is the key for me - I can still have my treats but I just need to plan for them and adjust accordingly.  I'll make sure to skip dessert and alcohol tonight, but am definitely planning on some yummy fish and chips!

And another weird observation - I have lost about 20lbs so far, and the most noticable place is in my fingers!  I am still wearing the same clothing size (although they are getting looser!) but my rings keep falling off.  I don't know if it is just water weight or what, but I really wasn't expecting to notice such a difference already.  My wedding ring is a celtic knot that can't be resized so I will have to wait until I reach my goal and then order a new one.

just_lily - I'm looking forward to putting my wedding ring back on. I took it off almost a year ago when I was at my heaviest. I actually had to lose weight first because I couldn't get it off. That was kind of a wake-up call. I've kept it off because sometimes I have to wear surgical gloves at work and I'm afraid of not being able to get it off again. Maybe I should try it back on now that I've lost a similar amount of weight wink1.gif And WTG!

good morning mommas!  it's monday!  the day i dread and get excited about too, lol.     today, i'm either down 2 or 3 lbs, it can be hard to read my non-digital scale... but either way, i'm down, so yea!   that would make a total loss of either 13 or 14 lbs, so i'm quite happy with myself.  i really pushed myself hard in the exercise department last week, and tracked every calorie i could.  so i'm thinking my calorie range is good, since i'm losing.

once i reach 15 lbs lost, that will be my first mini-goal!!  hopefully i'll hit it next week.

1/1/11: 256

1/2/11: 242

Today: 238

Next Goal: 225 (30+ pounds lost! Can I make it by the end of March?)

Next Goal: 210

Next goal: below 200!

Ultimate goal: 175 (75+ pounds lost in total)

My weight loss in February has been much slower than in January (lost 14 pounds in January but only 4 pounds so far in February). That said, this week I managed to lose one pound and go on THREE Valentine's Day dates, all of which included chocolate. So, I am pleased about that. BUT, I am really looking to see a 3 pound loss this week so I can close out the month closer to 10 pounds.

Another 3 pounds this week, bringing me to 198. I finally broke 200!

1/2/11 - 220
Current - 198
Goal - 130

I'm 2 pounds shy of my 3 pounds-a-week goal (22 pounds in 8 weeks) and I have 5 pounds to go to meet my February goal. I'm fine with being short 2 pounds. This week I would like to eat more fresh fruits and salads. This is also the last week of c25k for me. I am up to running 30 minutes without walking 3X a week. Next week I will start the Bridge to 10k (B210K), a 6 week program to get me running a 10k.

I was looking in the mirror this morning and I mentioned to DH how I don't really LOOK like I'm almost 200 pounds. My stomach is fairly flat for my weight. DH says it's because I have pretty wide hips, large breasts and a round bottom. He says that I don't have a small frame - lots of curves smile.gif Anyway, I'm wondering if 130 is to aggressive of a goal, but I'm not going to change it as of yet.

umm yeah went to a party yesterday and pigged out I am skipping this week shy.gif

sosurreal - it is ok that you tripped up, but I really want to encourage you to weigh in anyways.  The key to getting back on track is getting back into routine, and that includes facing the scale.  Nobody here is going to judge you if you are up a few pounds (heck, that is how we got here in the first place) or if you just want to weigh in and not share that is ok too.  But I have found that the times where I have buried my head in the sand and refused to face the scale have been the times that my weight crept back up.  I completely understand the fear of not wanting to weigh in but I really think a weekly date with the scale is one of the keys to success.

And I say all this out of love and support, not judgment.  You can do this, mama!!

Congrats to all of the Losers this morning.  This is so exciting.  Just think how different are bodies are going to be by the summer!  I may actually wear shorts!

Motivated Mama - an extra big hug for cracking 200.  You have been working really hard!  Awesome!!

As for me, I usually weigh in the evenings so I will be back to check in later.  I try to keep to the same time of day to keep consistant.  I am feeling like I had a good week though.  I have kept up with healthy eating (minus my fish and chips "cheat" that I planned for) and have kicked up the exercise.  I did the Last Chance Workout DVD last night and I am *really* feeling it this morning!

It is Family Day here and our local sports and rec centre is having free activities today.  I will probably take DD to some drop in gymnastics later today with a friend.  Happy Monday everyone!!

surreal, one of the things I've done this time around that I feel has been very, very effective (and helped contribute in a big way to my almost 120 lb weight loss) is weighing and recording every.single.day. I know that goes against dieting conventional wisdom to weigh more than once a week, but it's been really helpful for me to see daily fluctuations. you can start your own chart at http://weightchart.com/weight-chart.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fWellnessView.aspx and if you weigh everyday, it will not only show you a graph for your current weight, but for your moving average, which is the average over a week or a month (I can't remember how they do it). That way, even with bumps in the road, if your plan is working for you, you should see a gradual downward trajectory in your moving average. Weighing everyday also lets me see exactly how the things I eat effect my weight - if I eat out, even if I stay in my calorie range, I'm almost always up a pound or so the next day because of sodium content. I've gotten used to that, so I expect it and it doesn't discourage me when I see it. If I don't drink enough water, I'll see a bump. When it's that time of the month, I sometimes see a jump or a stall. When I started a new medication and gained 5lbs (literally) overnight, I was able to tell quickly that I was having a dangerous reaction to it. It also just helps me keep on it. If I see several days in a row that I'm moving up, I sit down and think about what I've been eating and if I've been sneaking bites here and there that I'm not keeping track of.

To do it, you have to be willing to let go of seeing a lower number every time you step on the scale, because it won't happen. You have to decide not to be discouraged by the numbers, and remember that it's just a snap shot in time. It's just gathering data.

So, like the pp, I encourage you to get on the scale and own the number. It will probably be higher than you'd like, but I bet that any extra weight from party food is water retention from sodium. Drink a lot of water over the next couple of days, and I bet you see the number drop back down quickly..

For my weigh in:

Starting weight:286
Current weight:166.2
weekly loss: 3.6 lbs
total loss:119.8 lbs

Good work Motivated Mama! That's awesome. For me, and I am larger framed, taller, with a big butt and hips and breasts (and a more flat stomach as well) -- anything below 150 looks sickly on me. I have done it before and EVERYONE around me was concerned because I just looked too skinny. For me, 170 is really the lowest I look good at! So, I am aiming to get back there :)

184.6

Had a potluck yesterday and enjoyed myself, lol.  Today I begin a journey of 40 days raw.

so 187.4 last week and 190 this week blush.gif

You are right I need to admit it regardless. Thanks for the site!

Good for you sosurreal!  And really it isn't that bad.  Just get back up on the horse.

AFM, I am down 1.1kg or nearly 2.5lbs.  Total weight loss about 23lbs.  Woohoo!

Considering the fact that I was super bad last week and got some poutine because I was having a bad I'm pretty happy with the fact that I'm only up 0.6lbs this week. Now I'm at 222.6lbs. Hoping this week goes better.

eclipse - love reading your advice. It's nice to have someone so successful over a long period of time on here.

Thanks for the support clay!

Montana Mom - Last year, I did a 43 day raw juicefeast. Good luck with your raw journey! I think that if I had not gotten pregnant, had a miscarriage and my usual post-baby depression after the juicefeast, I would have kept the weight off. I lost 30 pounds in those 43 days (5 pounds of that was just empty intestines). I had a lot of clarity during that time. The hardest part for me was the first week when my system went through some serious detox.

sosurreal - I weigh daily. I just report my weight for Monday's. My weight fluctuates in a 5 pound range usually throughout the week. Monday is usually a good average loss for me. For example, I am up 1-2 pounds today from yesterday's weigh-in, but I still expect to lose another 3 pounds over the week since yesterday's weigh-in. I think you are doing just fine.

just_lily - are we on the same plan? smile.gif

Aithnea - I love poutine lol.gif

One more day of running and I'll be done the c25k program. My goal from today on is NO MORE ALCOHOL. That includes all types - wine, beer, etc. I am definitely a drink or more a day person and I think that I can speed up my weight loss significantly by eliminating alcohol and increasing water intake. Once I've accomplished that for a decent amount of time, I plan to move on to coffee.

I am doing terribly. I joined WW and have been following the program but I just keep gaining. I take two medications that cause weight gain so I think they're the culprit because I have been swimming or taking water aerobics nearly every day.....and I just keep gaining and gaining. It's bloody depressing. ugh. I see my shrink on March 1st I'm going to ask to be taken off of them because I have literally been gaining about 4lbs a week for the last three weeks. I end up binging on fruit and sugar free jello. Not good.
