Well I didn't loose anything this week. Lots of reasons why that could be. But I'm still 10 lbs lighter than when I started. I'm okay with no weight loss this week. Hopefully I'll see a change next week.

well, i'm down 1 lbs for the week. i'm a bit disappointed.. i've been averaging 45 mins exercise everyday... but i'll take it. that makes an even 10 lbs for the last 3 weeks, which i am very happy about.  i did do less exercise this week than last, and my eating hasn't been quite as good either. but i did walk 5 K on the weekend, and it felt great :)
Â
the good news is that i can feel that my body is changing, my clothes are feeling looser! and overall, i have more energy, and i feel more positive :) i just need to keep chuggin' along!
Â
hope everyone has a great week!

foods, but I limited myself so it was OK and fun
Wendy - I've enjoyed squash as pasta as well. I've made it with zucchini and made some sort of raw dressing back when I was doing the raw vegan thing. I think the recipe was from Alissa Cohen's "Living on Live Food." Pretty much any raw fruits and vegetables are filling - that fiber does a great job at expanding and making you feel full, even bloated. If I'm not feeling fruits and vegetable, I'll usually snack on nuts that I have to crack (pistachios and brazil nuts are my faves) or stove-popped popcorn. I also tend to eat small amounts often which prevents me from getting ravenously hungry.

Five and a half pounds!!!!!
Â
Let me say it again..... five and a half pounds!!!!!
Â
That brings me to a grand total of 19 pounds!
Â
WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!
Â
I swear I am not starving myself or anything. In fact I was afraid that I would gain this week because we had a potluck on Friday night and I helped myself to TWO different desserts, and then went out for dinner on Saturday for a friend's birthday and had ANOTHER dessert! But I was planning to treat myself both of those times, and made sure to eat extra healthy the rest of the weekend. Â
Â
I also think maybe I was hanging on to a bit of water weight or something and my body let it go this week.Â
Â
:joy

I am celebrating with a sugar free jello cup right now!
Oh, and as for favourite meals, this is my favourite cook book, currently:Â http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Plates-Low-Fat-Youll-Swear/dp/039952584X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297114741&sr=8-1Â Crazy Plates
Â
I don't know why it is so expensive on Amazon - I can't remember how much I paid for it, but it certainly wasn't $43! Maybe because I am in Canada and they are Canadian authrors? Not sure. This is their second book. I also have their third, Eat Shrink and Be Merry but I don't like it as much. I've heard good things about the first - Looney Spoons - but I don't have it. Hmm.... maybe I should go get it.Â
Â
Anyways, every recipe I have tried has been fab. Last week I made a lentil soup that was super filling and only about 200 calories a serving (we also had some homemade bread that night for dinner). They use a lot of herbs and spices so the food is still really flavourful without having to use a lot of fat. There is also a one-pot pasta and hamburger dish that is my husband's very favourite thing to have for dinner.Â
I'm up a little this week, not a surprise at all. Its been a stressful and sad time and my body freaks out under stress (PTSD).Â
Â
Yesterday I got some cell salts and mineral drops since my ND said I was low in minerals and my teeth, though I'd been cavity free for 25+ years, are now deteriorating and forming cavities. I'm hoping that helps with everything else as well.

Well my scale says I gained 5 lbs this week. Like previous posters mine tells me different numbers almost every single time and if I stand on it different ways it tells me different numbers. So...I don't know. I know I didn't lose because I haven't been exercising, but  I don't feel like I have gained any.  I have a PE for Teachers class at school and we did jump rope activities for at least an hour. I had a lot of fun and the professor seemed surprised that a fat girl can move. But, my foot has been hurting and now it's killing me. I have it wrapped now, hoping that helps. I want to start C25K so I hope it heals soon. I guess i will just stick to yoga.Â

Im down 2 lbs! from 270 to 268. I admire all you guys for the exercising you do! I have trouble walking down the stairs in my apt!  I am relying on breastfeeding to substitute for exercise right now. Maybe once i get into the low 200's i will be able to manage more, and once the weather gets warmer - my LO will be the right age to start going to the playground/beach...and that means lots of walking for me.

I feel a lot more optimistic now and know only I can be the one to motivate me! Sometimes it is hard though b/c I really don't care what I look like, and neither does DH, but I know I am not happy being heavy and it limits me in a lot of ways.

I just keep praying for strength!

motherhendoula - I think it's good to exercise if you think you can manage it, but weight loss really is 90% about food. Most of the time that I've been losing weight, I've been unable to exercise (I hurt my back really badly about this time last year, and I spent months barely able to get off the sofa). Anyhow, I've lost 115 lbs with minimal exercise. It's not ideal, but it's definitely doable.

Just to add to this - I exercise not just to lose weight, but so I can eat more. Since I am active, a diet consisting of 2700 calories would maintain my current weight of 203 pounds. To lose 3 pounds a week (note: CDC recommends a max of 2 pounds per week), I would need to eat 1500 calories less per day. Since 1200 calories would certainly not be enough for me, I try to burn at least 600 calories daily through exercise so that I can eat 1800 calories and continue to lose 3 pounds per week. It's true that diet is a huge factor. For me, I enjoy being able to eat a good amount of calories and still lose weight.

I feel the need to add that breastfeeding moms need more calories than non-breastfeeding women to maintain our milk supply. (Article from KellyMom:Â http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mom-calories-fluids.html)
I am trying to keep track of calories for the first time in my life and it has been interesting. I have lost weight before with low carbs but that diet while it worked, it did not feel like a very healthy way to lose and it does not teach you to eat well in the long run. So, I started with calories yesterday and we will see how it goes.
Â
I did not do well with the superbowl and did not weigh in on Monday because I was not interested in beating myself up about it. So, I skipped this week for now and I am hoping to make my first goal, 239, soon!!
