Lots to Lose - Feb! - Page 3

Can't wait until tomorrow's weigh in. It is so motivating to see how well others are doing! This week has been challenging mentally for me, but I've stuck to my guns and think I will still have met my weekly goal. It'll be nice to put it behind me though and start fresh this coming week.

starting weight (1/3/11) - 295

Last week (1/26/11) - 282.6

this week (2/5/11) - 282.8

goal weight - 185

1st mini goal - 275

reward - massage

Well I didn't loose anything this week. Lots of reasons why that could be. But I'm still 10 lbs lighter than when I started. I'm okay with no weight loss this week. Hopefully I'll see a change next week.

well, i'm down 1 lbs for the week.  i'm a bit disappointed.. i've been averaging 45 mins exercise everyday... but i'll take it.  that makes an even 10 lbs for the last 3 weeks, which i am very happy about.   i did do less exercise this week than last, and my eating hasn't been quite as good either.  but i did walk 5 K on the weekend, and it felt great :)

the good news is that i can feel that my body is changing, my clothes are feeling looser!  and overall, i have more energy, and i feel more positive :)  i just need to keep chuggin' along!

hope everyone has a great week!

So my scale is the biggest piece of junk. If I move, it moves, if I move it, it changes. I have to calibrate it every single time I move it somewhere. I weighed myself multiple times and it fluctuates between 202-205. I'm going to go with the former for a good confidence boost and hope that it still improves next week. I'm pre-menstrual (and feeling it emotionally) so we shall see. Between calories eaten and the 6 days that I was at the gym, it SHOULD be a 3 pound loss, so I'll take it smile.gif At least I can be confident that I'm going in the right direction wink1.gif

01/02/2011: 220 pounds
02/07/2011: 203 pounds
Goal: 130 pounds

No loss this week, which I expected with all the family visiting and super bowling I did this weekend.  I'm eating light today and exercising.

I could use some inspiration.  What are your favorite filling but healthy meals?

I don't know if it's a favorite, but sometimes I use spaghetti squash instead of regular pasta noodles.  I feel like I can eat a huge amount for little calories or carbs.

I did some superbowling too. I made sure to get some exercise in the morning to make some more calories available to me and then I ate some boneless mild buffalo wings and drank 2 light beers - my nono.gif foods, but I limited myself so it was OK and fun smile.gif

Wendy - I've enjoyed squash as pasta as well. I've made it with zucchini and made some sort of raw dressing back when I was doing the raw vegan thing. I think the recipe was from Alissa Cohen's "Living on Live Food." Pretty much any raw fruits and vegetables are filling - that fiber does a great job at expanding and making you feel full, even bloated. If I'm not feeling fruits and vegetable, I'll usually snack on nuts that I have to crack (pistachios and brazil nuts are my faves) or stove-popped popcorn. I also tend to eat small amounts often which prevents me from getting ravenously hungry.

Five and a half pounds!!!!!

Let me say it again..... five and a half pounds!!!!!

That brings me to a grand total of 19 pounds!

WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

I swear I am not starving myself or anything.  In fact I was afraid that I would gain this week because we had a potluck on Friday night and I helped myself to TWO different desserts, and then went out for dinner on Saturday for a friend's birthday and had ANOTHER dessert!  But I was planning to treat myself both of those times, and made sure to eat extra healthy the rest of the weekend.

I also think maybe I was hanging on to a bit of water weight or something and my body let it go this week.

:joy

I am celebrating with a sugar free jello cup right now!

Oh, and as for favourite meals, this is my favourite cook book, currently:  http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Plates-Low-Fat-Youll-Swear/dp/039952584X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297114741&sr=8-1  Crazy Plates

I don't know why it is so expensive on Amazon - I can't remember how much I paid for it, but it certainly wasn't $43!  Maybe because I am in Canada and they are Canadian authrors?  Not sure.  This is their second book.  I also have their third, Eat Shrink and Be Merry but I don't like it as much.  I've heard good things about the first - Looney Spoons - but I don't have it.  Hmm.... maybe I should go get it.

Anyways, every recipe I have tried has been fab.  Last week I made a lentil soup that was super filling and only about 200 calories a serving (we also had some homemade bread that night for dinner).  They use a lot of herbs and spices so the food is still really flavourful without having to use a lot of fat.  There is also a one-pot pasta and hamburger dish that is my husband's very favourite thing to have for dinner.

I'm up a little this week, not a surprise at all.  Its been a stressful and sad time and my body freaks out under stress (PTSD).

Yesterday I got some cell salts and mineral drops since my ND said I was low in minerals and my teeth, though I'd been cavity free for 25+ years, are now deteriorating and forming cavities.  I'm hoping that helps with everything else as well.

Well my scale says I gained 5 lbs this week.  Like  previous posters mine tells me different numbers almost every single time and if I stand on it different ways it tells me different numbers.  So...I don't know. I know I didn't lose because I haven't been exercising, but  I don't feel like I have gained any.  I have a PE for Teachers class at school and we did jump rope activities for at least an hour. I had a lot of fun and the professor seemed surprised that a fat girl can move.  But, my foot has been hurting and now it's killing me. I have it wrapped now, hoping that helps.  I want to start C25K so I hope it heals soon.  I guess i will just stick to yoga.

Starting Weight: 220lbs (1/1/11)

Current Weight: 215.6lb (2/7/11)

Goal Weight: 130lb

Since last week I'm down 4lbs!  I couldn't believe it because I haven't made it to the gym all week.  To make up for that I've been doing some Pop Pilates (http://www.blogilates.com/tagged/pop%20pilates) well DD naps.

Im down 2 lbs!  from 270 to 268.  I admire all you guys for the exercising you do!  I have trouble walking down the stairs in my apt!   I am relying on breastfeeding to substitute for exercise right now.  Maybe once i get into the low 200's i will be able to manage more, and once the weather gets warmer - my LO will be the right age to start going to the playground/beach...and that means lots of walking for me.

cat.gif at keyboard so bear with me orngtongue.gif

I went grocery shopping yesterday and there were a ton of produce sales. I bought celery, cukes, organic apples, and spinach to make some delicious juices with. Juicing always helps me with everything. smile.gif
post #55 of 142

down almost 2lbs but it was b/c I was sick lol

sw (9/09) 238

cw 184.1

gw 130

I feel a lot more optimistic now and know only I can be the one to motivate me! Sometimes it is hard though b/c I really don't care what I look like, and neither does DH, but I know I am not happy being heavy and it limits me in a lot of ways.

I just keep praying for strength!

I didn't do an "official" weigh in yesterday because I'm having an IBS flare up, and between the bloating and the constipation (I know, TMI), I was up over 2 lbs. I'm still not feeling great, but a little better, so I'm "counting" today's weigh in.

Starting weight:286
Last week: 170.8
Today:170
Change from last week: -.8lbs
Change from starting weight: -116lbs

motherhendoula - I think it's good to exercise if you think you can manage it, but weight loss really is 90% about food. Most of the time that I've been losing weight, I've been unable to exercise (I hurt my back really badly about this time last year, and I spent months barely able to get off the sofa). Anyhow, I've lost 115 lbs with minimal exercise. It's not ideal, but it's definitely doable.

Just to add to this - I exercise not just to lose weight, but so I can eat more. Since I am active, a diet consisting of 2700 calories would maintain my current weight of 203 pounds. To lose 3 pounds a week (note: CDC recommends a max of 2 pounds per week), I would need to eat 1500 calories less per day. Since 1200 calories would certainly not be enough for me, I try to burn at least 600 calories daily through exercise so that I can eat 1800 calories and continue to lose 3 pounds per week. It's true that diet is a huge factor. For me, I enjoy being able to eat a good amount of calories and still lose weight.

I feel the need to add that breastfeeding moms need more calories than non-breastfeeding women to maintain our milk supply. (Article from KellyMom: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mom-calories-fluids.html)

I am trying to keep track of calories for the first time in my life and it has been interesting. I have lost weight before with low carbs but that diet while it worked, it did not feel like a very healthy way to lose and it does not teach you to eat well in the long run. So, I started with calories yesterday and we will see how it goes.

I did not do well with the superbowl and did not weigh in on Monday because I was not interested in beating myself up about it. So, I skipped this week for now and I am hoping to make my first goal, 239, soon!!
