Westchester area midwives

Thread Starter

Hi, just found out I'm preggers with my second.

We just moved to Rye in July so I don't have a clue where to deliver or whom to deliver with.  We had an amazing experience with CBS Midwifery at the Birthing Center in St.Luke's with our first and I'd love to repeat that, if possible.

Martha Roth and Leah Marinelli are both wonderful homebirth midwives in the area.

Not sure about hospital based midwives.

Have you checked out the midwives at Full Circle Family Care in White Plains? I think they do hospital based births (at Phelps, it is a little bit far from Rye)...

If you're looking for hospital birth, I will also recommend Lucy Milne, who works in a practice with OB's (White Plans OBGYN) and delivers in White Plains Hospital Center. (she delivered my first)

I also had a fabulous homebirth for #2 with Ann Margolis. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

We had a great experience working with the midwives at Full Circle Women's Health in White Plains. I was going for a VBAC, and, despite some hairy blood pressure issues in the last couple months of the pregnancy as well as several "high risk" factors going into the pregnancy( severe preeclampsia with my firstborn, c-section, and advanced maternal age (eyeroll)), the midwives took everything in stride. I had a successful, totally natural birth at Phelps with the support of midwife Michelle from Full Circle, and Dr. De Stefano.

Baby came very quickly--seven hours from when my water broke, and 45 minutes from when we arrived at the hospital--but, although my heart rate was super-high, De Stefano stuck with me, didn't freak out and send me to surgery, and worked with Michele to help me have my VBAC.

The nurses were very nice and I was pleased with the fact that Phelps is an extremely pro-breastfeeding hospital: they do NOT give out any bags or product from formula companies, and they give great breastfeeding support. I was already experienced after DS #1, but was really happy on behalf of new moms. My room was comfortable and clean, and all staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.

Full Circle's offices are very organized, and the staff were friendly and welcoming at every visit, pre- and post- partum. The midwives are nurse midwives, and one out of the three was a bit more "medical", if you know what I mean, but all were extremely competent, and appointments were never rushed. Another handy thing is that there are phlebotomists on hand in the office, so no need to go elsewhere for blood work (great for me, as my prior history made it necessary for me to have blood work done many, many times).

All in all, a good experience with Full Circle and at Phelps. I don't know how it would be for a non VBAC-er, but I was pleased with how things went. Good luck, wherever you end up!

This is my first pregnacy and I've been working with the midwives at Full Circle too.  I havent given birth yet but the midwives have been great!!  I'm so glad we decided to go with their group and Phelps.  You should definitely look into them.  Good luck and congrats!!
