Anyone have experience with fenugreek or quinoa?

I'm thinking of fenugreek as a cover crop where we have grown tomatoes for years, and need to have that garden something different for a while. And I'd like to try quinoa in our 30x30 community garden space. With a new babe I don't have time for a million things down there and want to try something new and cool. I've heard quinoa does well with cool nights.

Anyone done either of these? How did they fare, how did you harvest etc?

I haven't yet, but funnily enough I bought seeds of both yesterday :) I'll be interested to read replies.

I have not done quinoa but did amaranth this year (which is supposed to be similar) and it grew well (and was beautiful) but harvest is a B. Plus with all those little seeds I know I am going to be seeing amaranth everywhere in my garden for awhile. Just a thought.

I've heard the quinoa is gorgeous also. Also supposedly it does well in cool nights- we're zone 4. And I'm curious about harvesting it...

I'd like to use the fenugreek to replace the supps I'm taking now... maybe make tea.

I don't know about how quinoa will do with cool nights, but it grows really easily.  I planted it one year, but didn't get around to harvesting it.

I found a great piece on quinoa if anyone's interested. I'm excited that it sounds like it will do well here in our cool nights.

heh! Salt Spring Seeds is just down the road from us. I'm going to be planting their breadseed poppy for my very own fresh poppy seed supply so I can make proper german Mohnkuchen. With non-rancid poppy. Half a pound at a time :)

No experience yet, but I am sowing Fenugreek and amaranth this season. I can''t wait! fwiw, I think you can sow the whole fenugrk seeds that you can buy at the health food store, if that is cheaper/more convenient than ordering--at least, that's my plan!
