My 10 yr old dd woke up in Extreme pain!

She was lying in bed crying this morning. 

She said both her breasts really hurt baD.

She seems to grow a little puffiness overnight.  She said both hurt and about 3 inches around her nipples.

She cried all the way to school.  Stopped just before we reached her school.  I asked how she was now and she said she didn't want to talk about.

So I dropped her off.

Now I'm worried that she's still in pain.

WHAT?

I don't remember that much pain!

Did it hurt that much or is something wrong?

With that much pain I'd be inclined to speak to a doctor. It could be nothing, but it could be an infection.

Turns out she was fine after a couple hrs.  Maybe she was dramaing it up a bit??

I bought her some sport type bras in case she wakes up with the swell pain again.  Went to Walmart and I could believe the little training bra every seems to wear nowadays!!! LIttle unwire PADDED push-up bras!!! Why would a mom let her young tween/ teen wear that? Uncomforable for one and trampy for  two.

Fine for older teens but not 10 - 13 yr olds. 

Anyone know any websites like lulu lemon that has nice sports bras for tweens?  Lulu Lemon, I THINK just has adult sizes.  :(  But I love their stuff.

Ivivva is Lululemon for kids. Not sure if they have sports bras though. You're in BC so maybe you could visit their Vancouver location.

has all sizes. I got my 10 year old a kid's cami. Basically an un-bra with fabric attached. Super comfortable and pretty.

We're going to be ordering more. They take ~2-3 weeks to get because they make them to order, but the fit is out of this world comfortable.

Those aren't push up bras.  They are padded so they look more natural.  You can get bras at walmart that aren't padded but it is obvious when wearing them that you have buds & that can be embarrasing to girls this age.  

Walmart also has cami type bras.

We have gotten decent bras at Justice, and actually, the most accurate and careful measuring was at Victoria's Secret,  Not that I suggest shopping there for a young girl, but my dd found a very cute bra that she was interested in there.  They were very helpful.

I had this much pain (began when i was 10, was a 32E by age 12).  (self) Massage helped.

I don't think  you need the pad to hide the 'buds'.

I didn't have a ton of pain, but I did have some and I never made it past an A cup, still get my bras from little girl sections actually! I definitely needed some kind of liner to hide the buds, they were very obviously for a couple months.

Hormones = swollen breasts.  Hormones = mood swings and tears.  Swollen breasts = genuine physical pain = tears.  Growing breasts = mixed emotions, fear of taunting, fear about growing up = tears. 

Yes, my breasts hurt that much when they were developing.  They developed quickly, and got rather large. I couldn't sleep on my chest for months, and I hated it. 

Your poor daughter! Poor you too, Mom! 

A few good bras and an occasional ibuprofen will help.  And hugs of course.

OP, I hope your daughter is feeling better.  My dd and figured out that Target has this line of bras for young teens and you have to watch carefully because while they're all make with the same cute prints, some are push-ups (why!) and some are simply firm, lined cups that don't allow nipples to show.  None of them have underwire, though.

DD10 didn't complain much of breast pain, but she does occasionally have abdominal pain which I think is related to her hormones and changes in the ovaries. The school nurse did tell me that some girls start having pains there even before their cycle starts.

Thanks to PP for sharing the infor for bras for young girls. I'm not comfortable with some of the styles out there for young girls, and I'm not taking my daughter to Victoria Secret for a bra.
