FLU at 30 wks..help me heal myself

Thread Starter

I am 30 wks preggers and have been sick with the common cold since News Years. The nasal drainage finally went away about 5 days ago. Then I flew from Germany to Mexico City and now that we are at home. I've had FLU symptoms since sunday...going on day 3 now. High fever, body aches, headache, no appetite, miserable. Cough, runny nose. Cant sleep. Cold chills, shaking. I did go see my midwife on sunday night to check the baby out as I as having lots of vaginal pressure. Cervix is closed and all is well with that aspect. But I've got to start feeling better soon. I can barely take care of myself...and my poor kiddos....and the house....are being run by the powers that be!

I dont even want to mention that i havent washed clothes in forever...I just dont have the energy.

I have been taking tylenol when the fever gets up to 100.6. Drinking lime/honey tea.....drinking water....barely eating. What else can I do?

No suggestions, just sympathy. I came down with it 2 weeks ago. This is week 3 (I'm 37 weeks pregnant) and I'm still not completely better.

Vitamin D-3!!! Don't skimp, go big.

I agree with the vitamin D3.  Liquid drops, preferably.  Although, it might have more of a preventative benefit than anything, but it's worth it.  It is SO important, especially during flu season.  I take 5,000 iu's a day, but while sick you might want to take more.

I would also start dosing big on vitamin C.  In the form of sodium ascorbate powder which will be the best absorbed an it's also very easy on the stomach in that form.  Take about 3-4 grams a day.  So, about 1,000 mg about 4 times a day throughout the day.

If you can get your hands on a free range organic chicken or soup bone, make some broth.  It's full of restorative minerals and protein.  You can have a hot mug of it every few hours as your stomach can stand it.

If the respiratory stuff is still bothering you, do the neti pot twice a day.  You can buy one at a health food store for about $5-$10.  Fill with warmish water and 1/4 teaspoon sea salt.  If you've never done it, you probably won't like it.  There's a learning curve and once you've done it a few times it super easy and the benefits will be worth it.  (This is also something to do preventatviely a few times a week during flu season anyway.)

Lastly, it may seem a little crazy, but look up EFT (emotional freedom technique) and try to do some of the tapping points along your meridians with a script something like, "Even though I can't chake these symptoms and it stresses me out - I am loved and accepted just the way I am."

Hoping you feel better VERY soon.  :(

Great suggestions!!!! Elderberry syrup worked well for me with flu a few weeks ago as well. The neti pot is amazing for times likes this. I would you tube it or look up the exact way to do it. I was doing it wrong for quite sometime and it was not fun but when you do it correctly it's a breeze!http://www.netipotsecrets.com/netipotdanger/
