Monterey Belt Positioner ?

I bought my 6 year old a Monterey booster a few weeks ago and the red seat belt positioner by his shoulder is driving me crazy!   You can barely get the seat belt in and out of the positioner.   Literally it takes me several minutes of "sawing" the belt through the crack in the plastic red positioner, it is way too tightly closed!!   Anyone else have this problem?  Or do I have a defective seat?

This really sucks when it's snowing like crazy and in the negatives with wind chill!!

You don't need to take the belt out of the positioner each time.  Just leave it in there.

I know.  But sometimes he pulls it all the way out and engages the ELR and it needs to be redone....

I have the same seat. It's not easy, but I assume it's meant to be that way. It gets easier, though, and it seems that most high back boosters have the same design. My 7yo used to pull the seatbelt out all of the way pretty frequently but he stopped shortly after it became his sole responsibility to buckle himself because he hated having to have me help with it.
