reintroducing dairy - X-posted in allergy

After a traumatic (for me) episode of "colic" from my EBF daughter, I cut dairy. It seems to have made a world of difference. But I made a few other changes at the same time (keeping her more upright during and after nursing, probiotics), so I need to reintroduce dairy to make sure that's it.

I'm having pizza for dinner. Is that enough, or should I eat dairy for a few meals? How fast does it travel from my tummy to my boobs to her tummy?

I really want to know if it's dairy, but I'm not looking forward to a crying baby!

This is secondhand information, but I believe it's pretty quick. A friend of mine's son has a dairy intolerance. She ate food with cottage cheese in it for dinner, and that night her son was up 4 times with colicky behavior (at 10 months old).

Hm, I'm really not sure how quickly it makes gets through.  I cut dairy after I suspected Felix's early and severe baby acne (all over cheeks and down back, starting at 2 weeks old) was more than regular ol' baby acne.  About 48 hours after I cut it, it was gone - not just better, but totally gone.  Now he's 9 weeks, and I've been slowly introducing it back in.  Pizza one night, nothing the next day, cheese on a sandwich and a yogurt the next day, etc.  He's gotten a couple of spots on his chin after a few days, but nothing like before.  He never had digestive issues with the dairy though, so there was no immediate indication of when it might have affected him.

For me, if I had dairy with dinner, my DD would have been cranky and irritable the entire next day (after nursing all night).  As long as I didn't eat any additional dairy, she'd be better the following day.  FWIW, I didn't fully reintroduce dairy into my own diet until she was 7/8 months old.  She is almost 12 months and doesn't tolerate much dairy eaten directly (by her) yet.

If I eat dairy, my baby's reflux gets horrible about 4 hours later and it often lasts into the next day. If I don't eat anymore of the offending food, he's better within 24 hours.

Also pizza has a ton of dairy so that should be enough to test.
