I'm a major deferrer. My husband is a perfectionist. It's a bad scene.

 I have the same mix  in my household. Should we start a support group? I've just decided to lead by example with DH. I'm not even going to deal with his stuff until I've dealt with my own. It's working a little bit but I really have to hold my tongue about ANYTHING of  his, lest I activate the rebel!

Unfortunately leading by example works with limited success. And asking to "please put away a screw driver" or "can we get rid of this box you never open with the stuff from 15 years ago" totally activates the rebel.

I SO get you about activating the rebel. That whole - you have 3 days to open this box or I'm getting rid of it? OMG the drama! My husband is actually a better organizer than me - he would have to be with that amount of stuff - but he keeps so much!

I'd have to say the perfectionist. I don;t wanna even try to organize something if I can't get it just right.

Deferrer with plenty of excuses, including being a perfectionist....no wonder nothing gets done until I have all the things I need to do it with.

Another perfectionist-deferrer! My problems  with clutter started after moving in with DH, as I wasn't in control of our stuff and surroundings like I was on my own (I was minimalist even then). So it was like, it's never going to be perfect, so why try.. I totally procrastinated cleaning because it wasn't going to be good enough. And DH hated cleaning because it always made me mad. Getting DH into decluttering and minimalism a few years ago  ( we both read Karen Kingston's Clear your clutter with Feng shui, and it was really great though I'm in no way into feng shui!!!) was the turning point, but there were some serious lapses of judgement along the way too. We are now finally at a point where I'm confident that this is solid!

Deferrer, perfectionist and a dash of hoarder all rolled into one. I'm definitely not a rebel though. I think my DH is though, esp when we are on vacation. He likes to just leave things where he left them, i.e. shower towels, clothes, etc.  - I think b/c he can since we're not at home.
