Is this right?

Okay, so I'm very new to all this, and trying it out.  I soaked some rice in water with some yogurt last night.  The yogurt is pasteurized (unfortunately), and I soaked it on the counter overnight.  Is that right?  I read that it's better to be warm while soaking, my apartment is cool, but I figured it's better than the fridge.  But how will it not spoil?  Is it okay to leave yogurt out overnight?  Also, the water is not filtered, it's straight from the tap.  I cooked the rice at about 11:00 AM.

Thank you so much!

Yogurt won't spoil by leaving it out overnight, neither will the rice. I have been doing it for years. It's fine. :-)

Yogurt has good bacteria in it. In fact in order for yogurt to become cultured and for many foods to become cultured with more good bacteria they need to be warm.

Congrats on starting TF!  It can be overwhelming to learn but once you know... you won't go back.  ROTFLMAO.gif

We sit our yogurt on the counter overnight to make our whey.  PP is completely right.  You are good to go.

for much commercial yogurt, the milk is pasteurized, and then cultures are reintroduced, so it has live cultures and you don't have to worry about leaving it on the counter.  sounds yummy. enjoy
