shrunken wool cover-- can I save it?

My  husband put my really nice (expensive) wool cover in the washing machine today. I didn't know it did it (he probably didn't realize it either) and I threw it in the dryer with the rest of my dipes. Needless to say, what used to fit a 22 pound 17-month old now is newborn size.

I've read I can salvage it by soaking it in hair conditioner or something? Does anyone know exactly what I can do or should I just buy a new one. I have only one other cover for over night that is just a back up, and I prefer the wool one.

Buy another one. You might be able to sell that one as NB to recoup a bit of the money. The conditioner trick will help you stretch it, but its doubtful youd get it back to the original size.

I feel your pain. My mom was babysitting once and washed and dried a $60 pair of wool longies.
