Hi you experienced women - I have a question for you. Any thoughts are welcome.
I have started all three of my births with my water breaking and absolutely NO contractions for hours.
I assume that my fourth birh will start like this as well and here is my question/s:
Here in Austria most doctors and mw suggest that you do not get up if your waters break for fear of a cord prolaps and the baby putting preassure on the cord resulting in the almost certain death of the baby.
With my daughter my waters broke standing up and her head wa completely solid in my pelvis, causing her to stop the flow of the water. I was not worried then.
With my second I was confident that a cord prolaps was so rare that nothing would happen to him, I also hd to pee so bad I was not going to stay in bed.
With my third I was really worried because of my second son dying and his death was also very "rare". So I stayed in bed, my DH called the Ambulance and they carried me up the stairs. But because the stairs are so narrow they had me sit up. Now in my understanding sitting will put just as much preasure on the baby's cord if it has prolapsed during the water breaking.
WWYD with the next????
