Dingos Running For Love in February! - Page 6

La4 - happy birthday to your son and I hope you recover well today.

Jaygee - I would talk to the other parents at Saturday's informational meeting. I'm sure they have similar feelings and would be willing to alternate weeks or something with the kids.

Gaye joy.gif to L&D As for the nanny, I think its' just a personal decision. I friended my babysitter on Facebook and it's been perfectly fine. I would think your nanny might not want you to see her everyday happenings though...depends on the nanny.

NRR: Got an email today about the community health promotion specialist position I applied to 3 weeks ago. I figured it was a lost cause, but the director responded to an email I sent inquiring if the position had been filled. She said that they've now received all of the applications and the application team is in the process of reviewing applications and that the applicants should receive notification of whether or not they will be interviewed in the next couple of weeks. So I guess the possibility is still on the table. This would be great as I could finish my MPH finally. Not to mention, I paid my unfinanced balance yesterday so I can now sign up for my practicum. smile.gif

RM- Congrats on the house!

Jaygee- I am also leery of huge time commitments like that.  My kids are younger, but we had a hard time with soccer (2x a week plus games) for the same reason.  Would a carpool with another kid be possible?

Dr Jen, I too want to see pictures of pretty dresses!

Tjs, Yay for a good L&D experience.  Sometimes the good nurse/doctor can make such a difference.  Facebook and Nanny--I am cautious about crossing these lines.  You wouldn't be able to mention her in anything other than a glowing light on FB.  I have had patients at the hospital ask to friend me after I've attended their births.  I have always ignored the requests.  I know a nanny is a little different....

Mot. Mom, Do you scuba in a pond or lake?  That sounds like a lot of fun!

Jo, Can bees be sent in the mail?  winky.gif

NRR:  Snowing again, Z is on her second day of antibiotics after a positive strep test.  It is funny that after I was worried about N having it last week, it skipped right over her and settled on Z.  Antibiotics are truly miraculous sometimes!  I donated blood last Friday.  After loading up on Iron rich foods all weekend I am still feeling a little blah and not really like running.  Maybe I'll aim for a swim/sauna today instead.

tjsmama ~ I was thinking about your first day in L&D yesterday orngbiggrin.gif!  I am so glad you enjoyed it so much.  I can't imagine anything more wonderful than bringing brand new babies into this world!  Hope Day 2 is just as great!  My sitter is my Facebook friend, but I've known her since she was 13 (she's 21 now).

MM ~ there were a bunch of people in scuba gear in the pool on Sunday.  Glad you'll be able to pick up your certification where you left off.  I hope you get the health promotion specialist job.  That sounds really interesting.

Jo ~ I am loving your blog.  The story of your sweet sheep Pokey brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks for the input on DS and lacrosse.  DH and I talked about it last night and we're still undecided.  At least the practice field is right up the street from our house...

I'm swimming this morning while DD2 is at preschool and I have a doctor's appointment with my new family physician (DrJen, she's part of your (soon to be former) medical group, but down here in Southwestern IL!)  Holy cow, I just looked out the window and it's snowing like crazy!!  Where the heck did that come from???

Hey, all!   I ordered my laptop and it will be here Thursday, but I work that day.  So Friday!!  biggrinbounce.gif  I can't wait to be more present, maybe it will be the thing I need to get back to running!

I have been eating really well and trying to strive more for Health instead of just eating when I get the chance.  Working has really put some stress on my eating patterns.  I get starving in the evenings (at work), but I feel sick if I eat too much dinner before work.  It's hard to balance. Combined with being too tired most mornings to force down much breakfast, I am loading up most evenings (whether I need it or not).

Anyway, I am working on it and trying to be all om.gif about not finding time to run the past few weeks.  I know, it will happen.

I am almost fully back into the soapmaking business again, too.  It is just too many balls at once and I need to really focus to keep it all going.

In awesome news my (late reader) DD picked up a chapter book at the used book store yesterday and is READING IT! love.gif  She's on page 10 and has been reading one page at a time, mostly out loud to me or her sister.  It is great and heartwarming, after all the stressing out about her being behind in reading.

Jo- I thought I saw your blog posted on Fb?  I will bookmark it on Friday!  I am excited to read what you are up to!  How are you feeling about all of this giving away/ selling?

tortuga- I hope you and the littles are feeling better soon!

RM- Congrats!  I hope everything goes quickly from here on out!

Flyby post to report completion of JayGee's swim workout!!!!  2900 yards of intense drills.  The thing we have learned from this exercise is that Jaygee is a MUCH faster swimmer than I am!  It took me a little less than an hour and a half to do it.  Phew!  But, onto the rest of my crazy busy day!  Thinking of you all, Dingos!

Popping in for a reminder:

SECRET SPRINTERS - message me here or on facebook include your likes/address.  I wanted to have things set up by tomorrow, but we only have a small group.  I don't want to miss anyone. :)

Hoping for some yoga this evening using the videos from Nemesis. <3

Yay Bec!!!! It was a tough one, wasn't it?  I also swam this morning, 2600yds.  Somehow I was much faster on Sunday when I had the group to keep up with, and someone forcing me off the wall after 10 seconds!  Today I swam a descending ladder 500-400-300-200-100 and then some kick and pull drills plus warmup and cooldown, and one IM just for fun orngbiggrin.gif.  Butterfly hurts, even if it's just 25 yards worth.

For the race list, put me down for the O'Fallon YMCA Indoor Triathlon on February 26 orngbiggrin.gif.

That was a monster swim!  I am exhausted now!  I admit to taking more time than the allotted 10 seconds.  What's IM?  It just feels good to make a big hard effort, though.

Jennie - Thanks for the reminder!  I just PM'd you!

Just got back from pool + sauna.  I think the sauna needs some maintenance.  Not quite up to temp today.

MM, laughing at myself as Maine is a coastal state.  For some reason I had you placed in Western Maine, lake and pond region extraordinaire.

I have my pre-employment physical tomorrow and then I start next Tuesday!  I love snow, but I am kind of hoping that we get a little break, there is no visibility any more as the snow banks are too high to see over!

Bec- I see IM and think intramuscular (injection).  Pretty sure that isn't what Jaygee is referring to.  :)

IM (in swimming) is individual medley... butterfly, breast stroke, backstroke, freestyle. :)  Think I got the order right.

Today's activity:  kettlebell class - increased the weight of my bell from 12 lbs to 14 lbs.  Then a mile on the elliptical.  Tomorrow will be going for day 3 week 1 of c25k.

LOL, Tortuga!  I saw IM and thought either Instant Messenger or Iron Man.

We can't see over our snowbanks, either!  Thank goodness February is a short month!

Dimitrizmom is right ~ IM stands for Individual Medley, which is Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle (one lap of each).

I had a very interesting doctor's appointment with my new Family Medicine doc.  She's a DO, rather than an MD.  When I told her my leg saga, she checked my fibula in both right and left legs and said the right one is very stable, but the left one has a lot of movement.  She put a call in right away to the sports medicine department at Barnes Jewish in St. Louis so I now have a referral orngbiggrin.gif.  Taping is working well to keep the subluxation from causing too much problems with running, but if it's fixable, I'd like to get it fixed, KWIM?

tortuga, after my first open water dive in the ocean, I wouldn't mind a few lakes and ponds to ease myself in lol.gif

RR - headed to the gym to do 25 minutes on the tm, but ended up doing a 5min walk warm-up, 1 mile jog and 1 mile walk uphill. I just didn't have the run in me. Then I biked 16 miles (45 min). I got to thinking that I don't really need to rush the running. So here's to an easy week 7 c25k. I need to do one more 25 minute run to accomplish the week, but I don't need to do anymore than that! I'll still be finding some way to burn 600+ calories though to keep the weight loss up. Not to mention, af is around the corner af.gif

JayGee ~ I'm wearing my O'Fallon YMCA Tri shirt today!  Most comfortable t-shirt I own!! :)

Random lady is leaving now... :P

I have a t-shirt from the O'Fallon Firecracker 5K from like...18 years ago. lol.gif

JenLove and Nic ~ who knew that O'Fallon was such a hotbed of racing?!!!

RM--yay!

JayGee--I wouldn't want to do lacross with such a crazy schedule.

No RR here. Remember the stomach bug R had on Friday? Well, I caught it on Monday. She threw up twice. After a couple of hours of throwing up frequently, I lost count. Eventually I decided to take one of the Zofran I had leftover from J's pregnancy and that brought things back under control. (Ordinarily leftover phenergen is my drug of choice, but I didn't think I could keep it down long enough to be effective.) I still feel kind of rung out today and also still have the runs, but at least I'm upright. And on a related note, why do I need drugs every time I get a stomach bug? irked.gif Seriously! I haven't had a stomach bug in the last 10 years that hasn't resulted in me going to the ER for IV fluids and an anti-emetic, or that I haven't stopped on my own using leftover phenergen or Zofran. (I realize that I probably shouldn't self-medicate, but after 6 hours of non-stop throwing up and being unable to keep even ice chips down, I was ready to drive myself to the ER.)

The good news was that DH stayed home Monday to take care of the kids because I couldn't function, and afterward he said he now understands why I stay up half the night trying to get my work done.

Made it to class tonight to teach. It was a short class, which made sense considering that only 5 out of 12 students showed. Methinks the 1* temp, snow and horrible road conditions had something to do with it....

I. Am. Exhausted. Happy, but exhausted! It was a good day. L&D was really slow, so we had more downtime than I would have chosen, but it was also kind of nice because I got to follow my patient pretty much from start to finish. She had come in for induction last night, but not much really happened overnight. I got to see her go from not much going on to transfer to the mom/baby unit. She and her DH were both super sweet and really nice, great about letting me see/feel/do things, too. Probably the most exciting thing I got to do was to feel the baby's head right before she started pushing...it was amazing!

re: Nanny FB friending...she's 62, so not exactly of the FB generation, kwim? It's not like she's going to be out partying and posting pics of herself doing body shots on FB. lol.gif She only has 6 friends, too. I don't know. I'm leaning towards just accepting it, but still undecided.

What would normally be an off day for me tomorrow is instead going to be filled with simulations. I have a simulation for my peds rotation in the morning and then my OB sim in the afternoon. The peds sim should be pretty low-key, I think, but the OB one is our "official" one that is pass/fail, and if we fail, we lose 5% of our grade. Yuck. Not to mention that I would really love to spend some time with my kid, and sleep, instead of spending all day on campus.

Back from 3 days of travel -- the Nat'l labs have gotten so bad with computer security stuff I just didn't bother.  I got lots done, though, so hopefully that little phase of my life will come to an end the minute I submit this report next week.

Awesome news on both.  My Christmas gift recipients of your soap *loved* them.  That leap into reading is so exciting to watch, isn't it?

:banana  Hopeful for you.  This has been going on too long.

I still wouldn't.  I work hard to keep the outlines of the relationship with my nanny professional.  It's as much guarding what I say and reveal as much as seeing what she might say.  We also have a fairly stringent privacy statement in our contract, preventing her from discussing what goes on in our family to others or on the internet.

Must figure out how to run tonight.  I haven't run since Saturday.  Kindergarten information night tonight.   This site review fed us the whole time (and left us no opportunities to feed ourselves).  The person who plans the menus would be well served to review some basic rules of nutrition.  We had no fruit or veggies at all for 3 days.  I'm feeling a downward spiral into scurvy.
